Still flying in active service around the world. Cheap, easy to teach, easy to fix. The performance squeezed out of that engine and airframe is remarkable. China improved on it a bit with their curved delta wing for their J-7 copy.

Yeah, looks like they completely changed the wings. But other than that, it outwardly still looks like the MiG-21.

I was a bit hesitant to do this one. Trumpeter has a reputation for being a bit trying on the nerves. But I have to say, the build went rather smoothly. I initially was going to do an East German version, but chose early on to do the Soviet one.

I think the F-16's from the 70's are still going, thou with upgrades since. At the time I think it was the best interceptor available. If my memory is working, from takeoff the climb numbers were awesome.

They're all f based for their NSSC names. The Fishpot is the next one that comes to mind. My dad had me run flash cards to ID USSR fighters and bombers in the 80s.

“Fishbed” was a NATO designation. Soviet aircraft were given names starting with the letter F, bombers got names stating either the letter B.
For example, the MiG-15 fighter was given the designation “Fagot” (not that there’s anything wrong with that) while the TU-95 bomber was given the designation “Bear” by NATO.
