Understand the controlling the spread aspect of the vaccine since asymptomatic people would be less likely to spread the virus but I’ve heard people argue that the vaccine actually provides better protection going forward from Covid than if you actually had the virus. Why is that the case?

It’s more a known versus unknown thing. The effective rate of the vaccines is incredibly high. We don’t know the immunity level infection provides long term. Plus, vaccination doesn’t carry the poor outcomes risk that infection does.

This time last year Pelosi was telling us to visit Chinatown. I think I'll wait a little bit and see what happens.

Antivaxxers are idiots masquerading ignorance as prudent trepidation in an effort to conceal their own bias.

Where do you place fear mongering on your moral scale?

You could make the same argument from the other direction. People love say anything other than 100% compliance and acceptance as “anti-vaxxer”. Somewhere along the line, we as a society equated health with a medicine to stop whatever ails us instead of taking care of our bodies in a way that lets it protect itself.

Sure Covid targeted the elderly at no fault of their own; however, the other main target of Covid was the younger unhealthy population which in many cases was their fault due to the lifestyle they have lived (obesity, smoking, etc).

This whole time we have equated the solution to Covid as a vaccine; however, simpler solutions are also available in treatments and better general health. Very early on we knew the health factors that greatly increased the risk of getting Covid. If an obese/unhealthy person didn’t change their habits in the 1 YEAR we have had to do it then who is really to blame.

Actually healthy and young is way higher than that. Last stat I saw which was from around August was the estimate of 99.5% for those in their 60s. The younger groups were less than or equal to the yearly flu.

The entire COViD response.

It’s like people think getting a vaccine means we were wrong about the covid response being overblown.

You can get a vaccine and still think masks/shutdowns are retarded.

I think I'll pass on the first experimental human MRNA vaccine and take my chances on the 99.997% survival rate.

Well you are only addressing one side of the argument. And anti vaxxers aren't stopping anyone from getting a vaccine. Are they bombing clinics? The other side wants to enforce it on all because they scared.

To simply answer the OPs question:

Vaccines usually offer more protection than natural immunity. There are some viruses where natural immunity is better, such as mumps and measles

The covid-19 vaccine at this time appears to offer stronger antibody response than natural infection, but they will need more time to conclusively state that

How about this? The Ultra Pro-Vaxxer crowd is why we are still in this 1year later bc they BELIEVE that the only way out of this requires a shot in the arm by EVERY American.

Not being diabetic or having CKD is the best protection.

Fatness would come next.

I'm just saying its not 100% just like the death rate is really low for anyone that isn't a fatass.

Nothing in this world is 100% except les miles fumbling clock situations.

I think the vaccine is currently sitting at 100% at preventing death or hospitalization due to the virus. Which is a that matters
