I've had two USPS packages stuck in transit at the Baton Rouge hub. One was coming from Baton Rouge to Lafayette and never even made it out of Baton Rouge.
I'm not messing with USPS for a while. I'm using UPS or Fex-Ex from now on.

I have no clue what point you are trying to make. I can't tell if you are making the argument that the Postal Service is probably the most cost-efficient service the government provides OR if you don't understand that a lot of federal agencies charge for services. Federal courts charge filing fees and fees for PACER. The National Park Service sells passes. OSHA charges fees. I don't think anyone is demanding these agencies become profitable.

I ship 25 packages per day by USPS. I have not seen any of this at all

The USPS also can't set their own prices for their services. They have to go through congress to get price increases approved. About 5 or 6 years ago they got congress to temporarily raise postage by a few cents. It was the first time they were in the black in something like 20 years. So what does congress do? makes them lower prices back to where they were when they were losing money. USPS biggest problem is guaranteed retirement and too much government oversight. The damn thing would run great if they would leave it alone.

They're taking a cue from Canadian Postal Service.
I've got friends in Canada and they are always bitching about how long it takes for things to be shipped and sent in Canada.
I once mailed a friend a couple vacuum packs of CDM Coffee & Chickory and it took more than 3 weeks to get to his house.

I haven’t had many problems, but a friend that deals with instrumentation is waiting months for the packages to leave a distribution center.

I also don't think it is in our interest to reduce state capacity, from a geopolitical perspective. The US needs to fix its state capacity in a number of places. The PO should be the start.

I ship packages all over the world and part of my job and we utilize FedEx. They can get a package to Singapore in 2 days. The longest part is getting through customs in the receiving country since I'm sending chemicals (pharmaceutical use items) for analytical lab testing purposes.
I've had multiple packages reach one to two days before the USPS would have to pay money for losing it and then they magically find it. Must be nice to suck so bad at your job but can never get fired with a guaranteed pension.

Nothing. USPS has always sucked. I wish I could black list them on all of the e-commerce sites because they are legitimately terrible where I live now.
And where I grew up in Louisiana is even worse. The postmaster there can't even read.

USPS apologists complain that the postal service actually has to fund the retirement plans of their employees. Cry me a fricking river.
The real complaint they should have is that USPS should be free to raise rates as much as they want, although that will only draw more attention to just how bad their service is relative to their private sector competition.

I just got a birthday card today from a friend. It was sent on June 30. It took almost 1 1/2 months to get to me and the sender is only a couple of states away from me.
