Elephant Walk: dates to World War II when large fleets of allied bombers would conduct attacks in missions containing 1,000 aircraft…those who observed this said that the taxiing of these large numbers of aircraft to take-off in single file in nose-to-tail formations said that:
“They looked like elephants walking to the next watering hole.”

Over time, it was incorporated into the lexicon of the United States Air Force to identify a “maximum sortie surge”.

Each group of 24 Raptors are carrying:
-192 Air-to-Air Missiles
-11,520 rounds of 20mm bullets

Hey China:

I like that they still practice and train for that but if we're launching F-18s like that in a real situation, we're in a world of shite aren't we?

They're not practicing and training for that. This was a PR event.

It would likely mean they were launching in support of a major air/ground attack during a large scale war.

it was probably the same thing back then, and when they had to explain it they explained it in a clean way. i mean, dudes were still dudes back then with fricked up senses of humor.

And some people then bitch about military spending... safety/security first motha fricka. I don't give a frick if you can't afford to eat. You shouldn't either, and you won't, if you don't have a place to eat from/at.
