A good time to post the clip of Chappelle's take on women equality.

That made me laugh really hard.

You don't have a clue what you're talking about

As I literally admitted with the words “I’m not sure.”

But it was obviously a joke to make the point that the men’s team has been irrelevant for most of my life. I’m not saying they suck or haven’t been successful, just that, for whatever reason, they have failed to capture national attention like the women’s team. I’m 44 (to answer the previous poster’s question), and have been an avid sports fan my entire life. There was no youth soccer where I grew up, so I’m not a fan of the sport. I’m not “anti-soccer guy” either, I just didn’t grow up with it, so have never sought it out.

But the women’s team has managed to enter the American sports zeitgeist at least a couple of times in my life. I have that image of Brandi Chastain scoring that goal and taking off her jersey and diving on her knees whenever that was. I can picture Mia Hamm dribbling around and scoring all over the place for a couple of years. Knew Hope Solo as the goalkeeper long before her infamous vagina pics hit the internet.

But I have no such memories of the men’s team. I remember it was a big deal when we hosted in the mid 90s (?). I remember my cousin going to a match in Dallas. I can name maybe 3 American men soccer players (Landon Donovan, Alexi Lalas (?), and Freddie Adu), but have no singular moment I can point to where they did anything. Again, I’m not saying they didn’t do anything, just that I, as a non-fan, absorbed much more of the women’s team, mainly by osmosis when watching Sportscenter or reading Sports Illustrated or whatever. I don’t think it’s a crazy take to say that the women have been more nationally relevant. I don’t know if that’s due to performance, poor marketing of the men’s team or its players, or the undeserved propping up of the women in the name of equality.

But I’m also not saying this split agreement is “right.” Maybe the men didn’t have the leverage to negotiate a better deal. Maybe they agreed to it because they’re a bunch of communist, PC feminists. I have no idea. But whatever the reason, they did agree to it, so I’m also not whining over it like a bunch of bitches in this thread seem to be. And I hope we win the whole thing. I’ll pull for America in a paper, rock, scissors tournament. I just won’t be crying that the women get the cut that they negotiated and the men accepted.

Just further proof that women need men to provide for them.

Seems they should have advocated for equal prize money for winning

They signed the deal, they were well aware of what they were doing. They love being just as woke.

If the women think they're equal, then they shouldn't mind a winner-take-all match for it.

Are they the ones that wore the gay pride jerseys? If so, I'm surprised they are only giving the girls half.

I was watching the games today and they showed Sydney,Australia celebrating and Clint Dempsey said that's where I want to be.
The host said well we will be for the woman's world cup and they cut away from the celebration and Dempsey's face wss awesome. He did a slight eye roll and a quick smile when he realized he was on camera.

A good boy's high school team or even a halfway decent men's college intramural team would drag their nuts all over the Women's Nation Team. Those hags need to STFU and learn to make sammiches.

This point is completely irrelevant. How many tickets can you sell? How many sets of eyeballs can you put on the TV sets? Incoming revenue is all that matters. If you tell me that the men can generate 10 times as much as the women, then they deserve 10 times as much profit. I’m not sure that’s the case, but I’m far from an expert.

Yes but it’s still a fraction because generally no one gives a shite about women’s soccer outside of World Cup time.

You have tens of thousands attending MLS matches. You have tens of people attending womens MLS matches.
