U.S. traffic fatalities rise dramatically on April 20, the day pot smokers celebrate.

In the quarter-century since High Times magazine proclaimed April 20 a time to light up and smoke marijuana, traffic fatalities have spiked 12 percent on that date, compared to one week before or after, a new study shows. "This was such a great natural experiment to examine the risk of cannabis intoxication," said lead author Dr. John Staples, an internist and researcher at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Though the study could not assess whether marijuana-intoxicated drivers caused the surge in vehicle deaths on the counter-cultural "High Holiday" dubbed "4/20," they appear to be the most likely culprits, Staples said in a phone interview.

I'm celebrating 4/20 right now. If I don't die in a car wreck today, does that mean pot is safe?

Because I'm sure no one drinks any on that day. Weed only.

I think this scientist is high.

I wonder how much traffic fatalities increase after major holidays like Mardi Gras, St. Patty's Day, Cinco de Mayo, etc?

Only losers who never smoke, celebrate 4/20. Real "stoners" celebrate everyday

A pot head isn't a drug addict. I'm sorry but a stoner isn't pulling armed robberies, stealing from family members, or sucking cock for the next hit off a joint.

Marijuana prohibition hasn't worked and has been bad for our country. We shouldn't be putting people in jail for smoking a plant
