Nicholls is building a new Maritime Academy, maybe they could pair it with the Space Academy for water recovery.

Heard a rumor that Bezos flew over Avoca Island to inspect it. If there is any truth to that Nicholls needs to get in on this

Maybe they should look at Birmingham Southern’s Campus now that they don’t use it. It’s built already and an hour and half to Huntsville.

As long as the talent is merit-based and not DEI-based, I'm good with it.

Ahhh...the sorted tales of who really owns Avoca Island.

A group of "community minded" descendants are trying to show that they own the island and that it was "unfairly taken from them."

Some people say that the heirs to Whitney Bank in New Orleans picked up the land in the 1960's and 70's in case the Mississippi River changed course. They would have been set to make a mint if Morgan City became the gateway of America through the new channel of the Mississippi River flowing through Morgan City.

I've been talking to my early teens about the academies, and the reserves consistently for years. Daughter is entertaining AFA, at least.

High school guidance counselors (ultimately this is a parent problem, but many parents don't know better) have been utter dogshite for decades. Few seem to even have a grasp of when application deadlines are for popular Texas universities, when the SAT testing dates are, how to get community college credit while still in high school (reducing cost,) etc. How about telling a kid that doesn't qualify for auto admit to aggy to go to Blinn for cheap for 3 semesters, apply as a transfer student, get accepted, and profit, for instance?

Kids these days have all the opportunity in the world when it comes to their education and career. There's no excuse to not get a degree and be making bank.

I know it goes against the paradigm of Alabama, but it does have the highest per capita count of PhDs on the planet between the Redstone Arsenal and Cummings Research Park

It took Louisiana so long to do this that the American petroleum institute lobbied the ballast control operator rules away for offshore production vessels. Imagine getting an act of congress passed before you realize we’re flying in maritime qualified fisherman from the north east taking jobs that could be filled by local guys. Louisiana just isn’t a serious place ran by serious people.

The president can create a commission. An academy can only be created by Congress due to the need for new funding.
For location, I would expect it to be as close to NASA facilities as possible. Houston or near Cape Canaveral/Orlando would be the most likely locations. Huntsville could be a dark horse, but I expect better access to launch sites than Alabama can provide. The other possibility would be Colorado Springs to allow for crossover with the Air Force Academy.

frick off bitch...it should be as close to SpaceX new Louisiana site as possible. Nasa is old fricking news and spacex is mainly used for spaceforce contracts.

either ULL or McNeese should be turned into this and Gov Landry should be on the phone with trump selling him on that fact asap

honestly prolly McNeese as its 2 hours from houston and about 75 min to space x site.

beef up ULL and LSU engineering and business programs for space x

beef up sowella to provide welders, electricians, millwrights etc for space x
