The data was out there already from multiple cruise ships that were perfect case studies in learning how the virus spread and who was most vulnerable. But that was ignored because politics and ratings. Just because you and millions others failed to see it doesn’t mean you’re absolved from any blame.
Social engineering to be sure, but people were initially led to believe that the mortality rate was MUCH higher.

no disagreement as to any of your points on my end
1 issue which struck me from the beginning of the covid incident was how gullible our populous is to the media! most are truly sheep. complete emptying of the shelves in the grocery stores was unbelievable - especially toilet paper!
even today I'm seeing the market rallying after today's news (which should not have surprised anyone that we're already in recession). the economy is going to get much worse & people are going to be much worse off down the road, yet many of the "experts" in the media are denying we're in a recession or that the worse is over

Then again Trump would probably be in prison if he hadn’t listened to the “experts” since all these deaths would have been placed at his feet
By this rationale, DeSantis and a handful of others should be in prison. Fact of the matter is that very few people, Trump included, had the balls to stand up for civil liberties and most allowed fear to dictate their decisions.

It's only a transitory recession.

I’m not saying it was easy. When we started giving hospitals and doctors 20% more for every Covid death, they started counting car crash deaths as Covid deaths… the number was flashed on every news channel like a fricking MDA telethon. And the higher the number the more ratings. It was fricking sick.

again in retrospect I agree that Trump could have handled the whole incident better but what you're describing with Desantis' actions were taken much later than what Trump faced initially. most of Desantis's actions, which I have agreed with, have been taken during Biden's term in office.
do you not remember the screaming from the mountain tops about how deadly and infectious this virus was and the mass hysteria this country was in spring & summer 2020? my God they were arresting lone surfers off the coast of California for breaking lockdowns.

The position of the NIH Director became presidentially appointed with the passage of the National Cancer Act of 1971 and Senate confirmed with the National Cancer Act Amendments of 1974. Prior to 1971, all NIH Directors were appointed by the Surgeon General, with the exception of Robert Q. Marston, who was appointed by the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare. Acting Directors are selected by the Secretary of Health and Human Services and hold the position until the President nominates a new director who is confirmed by the Senate.
Anthony Fauci reports to the director of the NIH. That directorship is a presidential appointment. So yes, Trump could have easily pressured to get Fauci fired. And should have.

In economics, stagflation or recession-inflation is a situation in which the inflation rate is high, the economic growth rate slows, and unemployment remains steadily high.
That literally matches my statement.
A reduced growth rate =! economic contraction.

The unemployment rate isn't high. Even the U6 (7.0%) is below the average of (10%).
What do we call that? Stupidflation gets my vote

We aren't just seeing a reduced growth rate though. We've seen two consecutive quarters of actual GDP contraction.

Yeh easy peasy. How would it look for a career businessman to pressure the highest medical advisor in the country to fire a guy who has been on staff since Reagan? And if the NIH director said no he would fire and appoint a new one in the middle of a pandemic...that is some incredibly stupid logic. Even using hindsight it is pretty retarded.
