Knowing where your murders are contained is worth 30 points IMO.

I mean it's no New Orleans when it comes to the homeless, but they are still there.

It's on my short list, though.

Denver: active community, diverse population (not in the sense that this board uses the word), all 3 major professional sports, a mix of city and outdoor activities available, 4 seasons, good job market, low crime, open minded people...

Great climate. Lots of outdoor stuff. Relatively low crime. Less trash than most places.

But lots of liberal transplants. Lots of homeless. Traffic sucks.

Austin deserves its spot, Denver as well. but I'm suprised the scores hold with such insane real estate values (costs) in both

I spent two weeks there I wasn't scared anywhere I went. I honestly didn't encounter any homeless people until I got to Boulder. I admittedly was there during the winter and the problem is probably worse in the summer.

I have friends that live in Boise. I would move there in a heartbeat if my wife could tolerate the winters.

I like Austin, I just don't think it can stand up to western cities with actual outdoors appeal.

List is pretty rough from about 20-90 especially. A lot of bizarre choices.

Yeah, it's pretty insane, but city desirability (pretty subjective) is almost always inversely related to real estate pricing and rent.

The homeless didn't bother me too much, I'm used to it being in New Orleans, but my wife said she felt more uncomfortable in the Denver Capital Hill area than she's ever felt here.

Real estate prices are outrageous because everyone wants to move there.
