* Up to 30 miles: 10,000 foot high mushroom cloud visible.

I'd rather be at 1 mile and just get knocked over instead of killed at 1.7

A co-worker was telling me about a conversation he had with some EOD guy at Eglin recently, saying a big reason the MOAB was never used was logistics, finding the right plane big enough to carry it that could also get far enough away from the blast after drop.

What would be the point of dropping a huge bomb on people

This is your main problem, you assume ISIS are people. They're fricking cockroaches. Deserve to be curbstomped out. And you assume that they wouldn't do the same if they had the capability.

I thought the exact same thing. I guess there's a protective layer built into the bomb right at the 1 mile mark?

I really want to see a photo or video. I'm sure it's not available yet.

But I really want to see it.

I bet it is a test run for future ops.

Maybe a message to Fat Boy in North Korea.

They are designed to be dropped on targets by the Boeing-made B-52 Stratofortress long-range bomber or Northrop Grumman Corp.'s B-2 stealth bomber.
I'm confused. The CNN article says that this was dropped from an MC-130. I also remember the video of the test back in the early 2000s where they dropped it from the back of a Herc.

If it is designed to be dropped from a bomber, are they making modifications to drop it from a Herc, or are they just putting it on a dolly and sliding it out?
