And the execs who made the decisions that led to $20 Million losses will still be there and probably get bonuses for laying everyone off.
That's how this economy works unfortunately. Our politicians back policies that outsource low and mid level jobs wherever possible. Our approach focuses on total net gain of wealth rather than maximizing opportunity for as many Americans as possible.
If an American company can maximize profits by outsourcing jobs to a country that doesn't reciprocate fair trade practices or respect intellectual property - they will. They won't think twice about it until there's a supply disruption. If a tech company can abuse the H1B Visa program to train up people who they know will be too afraid to ask for a raise - they will. Happens all the time even as our tech execs and politicians encourage children to take up studies in STEM fields.
The trade and immigration policies that enable this practice contributed to the popularity of Trump and Sanders in 2016. Because the working and middle class are getting totally screwed almost universally. Policy makers do not give a shite about those people at all. They haven't for 40 years or more.

My company just announce "early retirement" and if they don't hit the numbers there will be layoff in July.
Buckle up the job market is swinging back the other way for the foreseeable future.

Wait, this administration said this economy is strong!!!
I’ve never seen more failure with an administration in my lifetime!

All you guys talking about layoffs are obviously lying. Biden has told me as often as he can that the economy is great, and they are growing it from the middle out, not top to bottom. This approach protects hardworking Americans all over the country.
Meanwhile, Newsom is out there proposing a 28th Amendment that would implement gun control while his state continues to fall apart.

People living off the govt aren’t factored into those numbers

I think it will depend on industry and talent level. As layoffs happen eventually jobs can’t be done and companies have to rehire, you add in others leaving and it opens the door to those with talent.
Accounting is still red hot outside of big 4 layoffs
Overall though the economy is in the shitter, I just don’t see the normal overwhelming you are lucky to have a job and the power all back to employers. Too many young people refuse to leave the nest so some places will always be understaffed which leads to opportunities.

Some oilfield service companies have quietly laid off.

Always happens when the FED jacks up interest rates. Companies cut back without easy credit.

I honestly do not know how the CEO and President of Sales still have their jobs. In one year, they have driven the stock price from about $65/share to just over $10/share.
They must have pictures of someone in bed with a live boy or dead girl.

There are tons of jobs out there, but people just don’t want to put the effort into it.
