The White House is considering taking stakes in U.S. energy companies in return for federal aid, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Friday. The Trump administration has already given billions of dollars of federal assistance to airlines in return for an equity stake. Asked after a White House event about the possibility of the U.S. receiving shares of energy companies in return for assistance, Mnuchin replied: “The president has asked me to work with the Secretary of Energy and we’re looking at a whole bunch of alternatives. It would be premature for me to talk about any one of them, but the president has asked me to look at alternatives.”

I don’t think Trump will come anywhere near that. He’s not a conservative but he’s not a socialist.

This wouldn’t be the first time he floated something out there just to get the wheels turning and people talking about something that would never happen.

Also it’s a good way to get the left talking about doing the opposite of what he proposes.

This is great until a democrat dominated era gets to play with it.

“Good! Figures the GE wouldn’t go forward on a deal without getting something in return. Better than a blank check bailout! 4D CHESS!”

Most of the oil companies in this position were basically zombie companies (only servicing debt) long before this. Let them go by the wayside and we’ll move on. The people and assets will be picked up by others.

LET THEM FAIL!!! Someone not the government will buy the pieces and restart operations if it makes sense.

I have been blasted for claiming Trump is a blue dog democrat at best, but recent events pushes him to the LEFT of the democrats. This is socialism.

you shouldn't be. His policies speak for themselves.
