Aerospace engineering is a bit shocking

Honestly I am surprised that biology isn't on there. Lots of biology majors who planned on med school, vet school, etc are pretty much unemployable with a basic biology degree. I see them working in roles where only a state license or certification is needed without a college degree all the time. To a lesser extent I see Chemistry majors doing the same.

STEM isn’t always what it’s made out to be

Assuming it's a lack of demand rather than excess of supply

Where’s Psychology? Has Starbucks hired all of them?

Notice you don’t see plumbers and electricians on the list. Those are jobs that actually matter.

It’s really only some of the E and some of the T that gets you a “good” job with your 4 year degree.

Who is setting the criteria for an “insufficient job for their training”.
I’d argue liberal arts, fine arts, nor art history have a worthwhile career opportunity after college especially considering how much they would have paid for their degrees.
I’d guess they’re overvaluing their “training”. Hell any job that pays those three majors is probably overpaying

The higher your attainment, the fewer the jobs. PHDs have normally been the most underemployed.

yeah. How many aerospace engineering gigs are there?
If you were last in your class at a marginal school, you're probably shite out of luck.

Psychology degree has a lot of utility if you know where to look. If you’re not going in to be a therapist/psychologist you can go into fields like HR.

It’s a list of college degrees not jobs.
Median salary for an English major in any job is 63,000
Median salary for a plumber is 60,000

Aerospace engineers work for NASA, JPL, or Elon. Thats it. Nice to see a journalist zero in on a specific engineering field.

I have a STEM degree, but its more specialized than a BIO or a CHEM degree. I could still go to med school with it but its way more specialized and more difficult that a generic premed, bio or chem degree.

Physics? Kinda weird
They put “underemployment” on that chart. So I’m guessing the recent physics graduates are working as interns or some other low paying research job as they get experience.
