I think the George Floyd riots were somewhat understandable but the biggest difference there was almost everyone was on their side and even the cops and the DA were essentially giving them the justice they wanted while they were burning the city to the ground. All closely held elections were recounted and certified by elected officials many of whom were affiliated with the losing side.
The reason votes were "dumped" on election night is because of the archaic laws regarding mail in ballots not being allowed to be counted until AFTER the polls close
