Pulled up to the BR General Express Urgent Care near my house in Dutchtown. The girl at the desk asked if I had an appointment and informed me the next available appointment is tomorrow just before noon. I told her they may want to change the sign out front. What is this nonsense?

That’s the end of my Facebook rant.

Isn't that against the entire reason urgent care was created?

People are using urgent care clinics as their personal covid testing sites every time their taint itches.

What are you symptoms?

The OT can have you well again before the next available appointment.

Urgent Cares making that cash right now. Patient comes in with sniffles, "You probably have Covid. Unfortunately we have no tests. You should see your primary care provider. $300 please"

I prefer urgent care places that do take appointments so I am not just sitting around waiting. I also don't have a PCP so go to urgent care whenever there is an issue I can't resolve over a telehealth free visit. Which surprisingly works the majority of the time.

That's just where you go now to get covid so you don't have to work

Can't speak to the General, but OLOL after hours clinics have had an appointment structure in addition to walk-ins for months now. You let them know when you arrive and when they call you you go straight to an exam room.

Well you can make an appointment for tomorrow or they could tell you to take a number and you can sit there waiting until tomorrow.

Exactly lol. I drove around and found another that took walk-in’s, you know, like a normal urgent care place does.

Most likely their business model has been flipped upside down with Covid. Testing probably wasn't on their radar and need to pivot and schedule non-emergency visits to be able to keep up.

May as well just go to your regular doctor if you can't just walk in.

Then what the hell is the purpose of urgent care.

I thought it was designed for people who couldn’t get into see their PCP but didn’t need to go to a real ER.

Making it appointment only is stupid and will likely cause more clutter in real ERs at a time when they can’t really handle the burden they already have.

The one near my house is doing the same.

I just use Teledoc now, if I'm not going to my PCP.

The entire reason urgent care was invented is for walk-ins. It's for when you need to see a doctor, but don't want to wait a week or 2 to see your personal physician. But it's not serious enough to where you'd need to go to er.

Damn Bidan and his CMS mandates created these shortages...

Hope all you tyrants out there are happy when you're in dire need of medical help. Your silence (and even advocacy) sponsored this travesty

Probably the best way to weed out the folks seeking to get a Covid test

So it's basically a virtual queue.

What is your urgent care need? Could it wait until tomorrow?
