There is hope for you yet, don't be premature about it though

It's like, if you get "dragged" into the situation, its bound to be a lose/lose situation for you. You lose if you say something and nothing happens lawfully and that person might end up getting hurt more/worse or you lose because you knew about it and didn't say anything.
I don't get your logic here. Are you advocating for ignoring abuse because involving the police might make the abuser do it again? You think the abuser will just randomly stop or some dumb shite?
It's 2018. Always involve the police. Even if it doesn't work, your arse is protected. It's not your job to overthink the scenarios and what-ifs.

There was a coverup, and a reasonable motive for a coverup. This wife beater was well connected and the grandson of an OSU legend. This wasn't just about "let the cops handle it." She alleges that it was actively covered up because of who the guy was. If this allegation is true.... if she was really encouraged by OSU employees not to call 911 because he would lose his job, then the school is fricked. Simply fricked.

What im saying is if you "drag" me into a situation like this, you put me in another situation that can possibly come out two way.
1. I call the cops on the abuser and, worst case scenario, nothing happens, that abuser may abuse that abused person again moreso. If not that, then nothing will possibly happen and they'll (the cops) tell me "Hey, we cant do anything unless we something happening or proof" assuming there is no proof readily available.
2. I know something is going on and I'm there for you in support and so on. Basically how Mrs. Meyer's was. Asking those questions of "Well did you call the cops" and "Restraining order". But i leave it at that. And now, X amount of years later you come out about it and you name me and this and that person about knowing that it was going on. And now my career is on the line. Regardless if i was supportive of you trying to get free of a bad situation or not.
I guess to me it just seems like a possible lose/lose situation. I could be mistaken but thats how it seems right now for the Meyer's. Least for the wife

Damn I hate to give a-hole Meyer the benefit of the doubt here but it sounds like the police knew about the allegations. Which removes his responsibility to report something that was already reported. It also sounds like the police didn’t put much credence to them. So what is urban supposed to do?
Hey you said he hit you and you called cops and they won’t issue a restraining order which basically means they don’t believe you.....let me fire your husband?
I’m not saying it didn’t happen. But this guilty until proven innocent is bullshite.
And lying about it later is just urban being stupid.

The police knew, but the University officially did not. He was mandated by law to report it to the University, and he either did not or he is not publicly admitting that he did.
THEN, he lied about even knowing about it in the press conference.
That's when the victim came out and called BS.
Again, just because Mr. Smith was not arrested does not mean he was not guilty. It simply means the victim didn't want to press charges or there was not enough evidence to prove he did it. Again though, that did not matter to the university.
Its similar to a rape case, unfortunately. Just because you are not criminally wrong does not mean the University won't take action of their own.

or 3. Report it to OSU HR, like you're obligated to do, as the University standard and under Title 9.
It's not rocket science, people. She knew and sat on it. And likely told Urban, who sat on it, to keep his coach from getting in trouble.
If you don't want those responsibilities, don't be a head coach at a major university.
I'm sure a lot of coaches at a lot of big schools are sitting on a lot of incriminating info. Urban got caught. Paterno got caught.

I'm pretty sure there are text messages or some other form of evidence that said that Urban discussed the 2015 incident with Smith and Smith denied it. Then Urban let it be.
So I don't think there is any question on whether or not Urban knew. He did. Furthermore, Smith was arrested and the charges dropped in 2009 for a similar issue. So there's basically no doubt this guy was a scum bag. And Urban and OSU covered up for him, AND kept him employed.

are we sure he had to report to the university what was already reported to the police or is that just assumption. Mandated reporting of abuse usually means you have to call the police.
I don’t know I’m just asking. Seems like a lot of assumptions are being made.
Why wouldn’t the police issue a restraining order (per the wife’s own tweet).
I have a friend that got a restraining order placed on him for slapping a phone out of his exwifes hand when he caught her leaving his kids to be babysat by her drug dealers grandma instead of taking them to school that day. His employer freaked out and he almost lost his job. All the while the woman bringing the kids to a drug den for a play date was protected by the police.
Why don’t we let it play out before we hang the guy?
Lying was stupid. But it also wasn’t a crime.
This whole thing is getting a little absurd.

He fricked up when he was asked, at this year's Big 10 media day, if he knew about this and he answered that he didn't.
If he would have said "I was aware of this, looked into it and that person was let go from my staff", he would likely not be in this situation.
But the woman texted Shelley, sent her pictures of her bruises and Shelley told her that she would tell Urban about it, but nothing was done in that instance.
If you know someone on your staff is a wife beating son of a bitch, there should be nothing to investigate, but Urban has a history of tolerating behavior that should receive harsher penalties than he is known for handing out. He had what? Over 30 players at Florida arrested under his watch. From what I understand, if Aaron Hernadez played college ball somewhere else, he would have likely been kicked off the team by at least, midway through his sophomore season, if not earlier.
Assuming he gets fired, I honestly don't see any Power 5 conference team hiring him. He is a risk. He would probably be better off coaching at a FCS school.
