This guy was former head coach Earl Bruce's grandson, which made him if not untouchable in Columbus, bought him a lot of leeway. According to her texts, the police had been called multiple times with no resolution. Maybe she gave up.

Nicole Simpson called the police on a well connected abuser too. It didn't help her.

Please leave Nicole Simpson out of this. That's hyperbole.

Perhaps you should ride that Bruce guy out on a rail. It seriously pains me to "white night" for Urban and OSU, but at some point people need to take control of their shite. Nothing was stopping the lady from leaving after the first show of violence.
As a woman, this shite pisses me off bc we are supposed to say that this person didn't do this or this person didn't do that. By God, if somebody is hitting you, GET THE frick OUT. There's no algorithm, or flow chart. It's 2018 -
There is no shame. Just GET THE frick OUT. Geese.

Why do people think making the school aware after this point is material? I want an honest answer to that

Because the school can be held liable for punitive damages if they don't take action on Title IX violations they knew about or should have known about.

I'm not making a case for the legitimacy of Title IX policies, I'm just telling you why the school has a vested interest and a policy in place to make sure they know. They don't want federal funds to dry up and they don't want massive civil cases.

So what the hell was the football coach and his wife supposed to do about it? Report something that had already been reported?

With that being said. Why is it incubant on Mayer or his wife to solve this situation?? Your husband beats you, you get the frick out. It's 2018, not 1958. Somebody is looking for a payday.

FYI, she left her husband 3 weeks after the 2015 incident. The divorce was unsealed today and the coach was fired a couple weeks ago.

His wife, Shelley, works as an instructor at the nursing school at Ohio State. How the frick can you be a nurse and ignore domestic violence happening to someone so close to you?

She can't, she gone. Title IX obligates her, in her position, to report it. Urban is obligated as well.

Report it to HR. HR Title IX officer investigates it and probably suggest counseling since the victim wasn't a student.

The failure to report is a blatant violation of school policy. The entire idea behind the policy is to relieve the burden of being judge and jury from the faculty and place it on the Title IX officer. All you have to do is report it.

Be that as it may, as stated elsewhere in the thread, if Meyer knew and did not report, he is in violation of Title 9, and his days at tOSU are probably numbered in the single digits.

Whatever - blah blah blah knew. If my husband was abusing me, the only person who would need to know - besides me, would be my Daddy.

So this woman had no such support?? It's 2015, right?? Go public when it starts. Why wait??

, you're a fool.

Talk to people who've been abused and get back to me on how simple it is.

Why did she go back??

Again, I must reiterate that I have no love for the
OSU football program; but as a woman, I am loathe to support another woman blaming another entity for her abuse. Perhaps this would fly 50 years ago, but damnit there is nothing, holding us down in the 21st century. He hits you?? Get the frick out.:

Oh wait, maybe you are worried about losing income or status associated with him or his job. Well then, you are putting money and status over your self esteem and well being. That's your fault.

I have. That's why I am taking such a hard line on this. Women who are abused need to leave their abuses, not stick around and then blame others.

I can almost, almost understand the sticking around; but to blame an employer fo that is just stupid.

Ok well I guess if the law requires the coach to report something that had already been reported, then that’s that.

He didn't and what we'll never know is....why did he lie about It? Other than it's natural and or he thinks he's above the media?

If he says no comment and moves along he isn't about to be on the verge of losing his job and possibly a chance at a title this year.

People are making way too big of a deal about this. A woman was abused. So what. Happens all the time.

Or you've got kids, you don't want him to go to jail, but you do want the beatings to stop.

Women are killed year round trying to escape domestic violence situations. Murder suicides are relatively common.

But yeah, it's 2018 and shite.

If a woman who is abused can complain about said abuse to her husband's boss's wife; then she can go to the police.

Obviously, she wasn't suffering in silence:
