Those grandmothers need to be in prison then.

Damn. I lived on that 4200 block until last year. Good thing I got out of that shithole.

Not even sure the place I live now has had a carjacking in the last 5 years.

My daughter (no pics) just turned 18 and is a freshman at Tulane. As soon as she gets home for summer break I’m starting her CHL process.

This is the one on Octavia Street. This is one of the "nicer" areas of the city too...it just doesn't matter where you live anymore, if you're not on Audubon Place, you are very, very vulnerable...

Everything you love about New Orleans just drove off in your car.

It isn’t like NOLA hasn’t seen this type of scenario before and figured out a way to address it. Back in the 80’s when crack was introduced, gangs took over and it became a shooting match

City hired Chief Pennington to run the NOPD. They identified the 200-400 gang bangers. Worked with the DA and the judges. Tracked those idiots and busted them for anything they did and then kept them in jail.

The template is there. The DA and most of the judges are too stupid to follow it

New Orleans is becoming more and more like Mogadishu every day. The crime is now spreading into the affluent neighborhoods. It's getting to the point where almost no spot is safe and anyone who lives there has a death wish

Lots of people who live in New Orleans don't have a death wish. Crime is bad, but that's a ridiculous statement. Also, crime has always been in and out of affluent areas in New Orleans, that's just the makeup of the city. Million dollar block to shithole block.

True.

Had a good run after Katrina for about 10-12 years and I really thought all the gentrification was going to finally push things along to make a big step up.
LaToya and others have ruined that.
Still amazing to me the new builds going up all around the city and how real estate values are holding steady.

The good cops on the job would add that Pennington also identified as many bad cops and removed them too, which led to the citywide cleanup.

It's interesting that these kids were born after Katrina. How many more of them would be doing this if not for that storm and the permanent relocations?

I live one hour from New Orleans. I intentionally avoid it. IMO the place is a liberal sh*t hole. As far as these kids where is Dad? Absent most probably.

You can find plenty of stories of people getting popped for no reason in broad daylight. It’s worse than Chicago

The sad thing is that 80% of the violent crime in New Orleans is committed by somewhere in between 300-500 ppl by most law enforcement account. So it's a fixable situation

And each one of them has how many kids each? They’re steadily replaced even if the 3-500 are caught

4 dead in 5 shootings yesterday.

In 2022 NOLA has had 30 days without a murder.
