I thought the christmas star the wisemen followed was in the eastern sky?
If the Magi were from the Far East as the story goes then they would have had to travel west to get to Bethlehem. No one gets to Israel traveling due East unless you’re on a boat

You can all view Uranus anytime via a mirror. Just saying.

Jupiter and Saturn are planets, not stars.
They look like stars when looking at them, I just assumed they were stars and thought it was cool they were actually planets.

This is really cool.
Of course it’s 2020 so it will probably create 100 years of darkness and thousands of giant nocturnal praying mantises will scour the earth.

I googled and can't find anything

The actual Christmas star included Mare with Jupiter and Saturn.

I've already got my telescope ready. With the right eyepieces I should be able to see both of them in the scope at the same time (along with 4 of Jupiter's moons and 2 of Saturn's.)
Unfortunately for most people, they'll be very low on the horizon and you'll have to get out right at sunset to see them at convergence.

I see maybe a slightly brighter star to the south? Hard to tell.

LCA, can you let us know how this time compares to last?
Thanks

Way too foggy here, I can barely see the moon. Maybe it will be clear tomorrow night.
