Not sure why the down votes. You are correct.

I really wanted to see Alyssa Milano on that list

She might have a stronger defense. She was just commenting on what others were reporting.

The ones who should pay through the nose are the original sources.

They don’t currently have to do anything it’s a letter not a lawsuit. Someone is paying his bills too.

He's doing it for free, the only expenses are time and travel for his team. And they already have people donating for that.

Absolutely.

This can best be summed up by that scene in The Dark Knight where Harvey Dent talks about getting the mob off the streets via RICO charges.

The big dogs (NYT, CNN, etc.) will be able to bond out, but the others (Alyssa Milano, Kathy Griffin, random reporters, etc.) can’t afford bail.

Can you imagine having a period of time where those people simply shut the frick up?

It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it?

You file the lawsuit you don’t have send anyone a letter ahead of time.

Why would anyone have to shut up?

Public opinion and outbursts that could affect a jury.

May not be the outcome that Scruffy would like, but he would hope that those dumbasses would avoid doing what they did while facing a lawsuit.

And just so you are aware, they sent them document preservation letters, which appears to be the first step in these libel/defamation suits.

It wasn’t just some “warning letter”.

Its the first step in many types of lawsuit when you either aren’t ready to file suit, still deciding if you can file suit or want to scare someone into thinking you will file suit.

This will get some people’s attention but hold off on the excitement till suit is filed and it gets past summary judgment.

Are the letters a required prerequisite to filing the lawsuits?
