Heart disease is called the silent killer for a reason. You can have hard to detect symptoms due to blockage before the heart attack.
My local heart clinic has a program where you can pay $100 and they will run tests to see if you have any blockage. I went just out of curiosity even though I had no symptoms. I always wondered what my status was. It turns out I had 90% blockage in the window maker and 35% in another artery. They put in a stent in the widowmaker and we are keeping an eye on the other blockage.

Had one seven years ago. two stents and treated the other blockages with meds. I was on "Effient" thinner for just over a year. Worst part was being weak. I have had zero problems since that first year. Hang in there. It gets better.

The statins stabilize our cholesterol numbers as well, but that is not how they save you from buildup. No amount of exercise or eating cardboard can save us from a heart attack. My mother had glowing cholesterol numbers and still had a severe blockage that they caught before she had a heart attack. My hard headed in shape uncle refused to check him self out because he had "proper diet" and ended up with a quadruple bypass. Don't fall for the bullshite of "proper" diet and exercise keeps heart attacks away. Marathon runners have dropped dead from massive heart attacks due to this lie. I got put on statin before I was 30. I even went through a stress test before 40. All good.
This may have been the dumbest thing I have ever read. Walk around a hospital and let me know what the majority of cardiac patients look like.
High Cholesterol can he heredity which is why it’s important to get blood work done every 6-12 months. But to sit here and act like diet and exercising won’t significantly reduce your risk of having heart issues is ignorant

I don't know what these mean though. If the general public's view on obesity, etc., is any indication, they likely were obese and not in general good shape.
Not at all.By outdoorsman I mean they hunted, fished, played golf, worked in the yard and workshop. They were not sit on the couch men. At 60+ they were not ripped like a 25 yr old athlete but they were not obese either. But both had a family history of male relatives dropping dead of heart attacks at relatively young ages (60s and 70s)

Did not see it if you already answered, but what was the back pain like that made you call your friend in the first place? Never mind: just saw your response to the tenderness in your traps.

Things like blockage happen to everyone and would be caught if us outdoors types were more sickly or felt the need for check-ups. Looking back I should have a primary care Dr just never felt the need for one till now.
Sometimes it's more genetics than the above. In the last couple of years I've lost a friend and family member to sudden cardiac arrest. One was 59, the other 68. Both healthy outdoorsmen who had few if any medical problems, were in good outdoorsman shape and both dropped dead in the snap of a finger. Both had male relatives that died early of heart attacks.

Wow, you are definitely a fortunate person, congratulations and attack the root causes going forward.
“What is the survival rate for the widow maker artery?
Reports from the American Heart Association show that only 12% of people suffering from the widowmaker heart attack outside the hospital get to survive. However, those already admitted to the medical facility during this heart attack have a 25% survival rate.”

Did you take the Covid shots? A lot of young people are having unexplained heart conditions that may be connected to Covid.

Mom had one at age 72, she's about to turn 85. The diet and stuff can be temporary somewhat if you are like Mom and in decent shape for age. She eats what she wants now the last few years. She had the 2 stents too.
I'm jealous you can still fish. It's now a bucket list thing for me to be able to fish again, just one more time.

LOL Anyway she cooks for taste & I ate a couple meals a night for the last 20 years or so and we/she isn't following any healthy guidelines until now. She just came home for lunch to make me a salmon salad. I have it better than I deserve for sure.
Damn bro, coming in hot!
But why does your wife blame herself?
