Yeah. I was 75% at the top and 95% at the bottom. Heart health is good now but I am dealing with high blood pressure for the first time in my life. Sucks.

You’re lucky. One of those killed my dad. Stay on top of the lifestyle changes and doc visits and you’ll be good for a while.

Had a stent put in the widow maker vein 4 yrs ago. They said if I waited another week, I would have been dead. My uncle and grandfather died in their Forty's from a widow maker heart attack.

I survived one in 2020. Damn close call. Even the meds you’re likely on take a big adjustment, even down to relearning how to be more careful shaving with the blood thinners. I hesitate to put even an email address on here, but if you’d like, I’ll do it briefly.

I will be sure to discuss this with my cardiologist certainly a concern I have. One of the medications they have me on is to combat plaque buildup where their located. I appreciate the heads-up

You're probably on Eliquis, Xaralto, or another anticoagulant. I'm guessing you're probably also on Plavix (Clopidogrel, etc.) as an anti-platlet drug. Get used to it.

The previous poster was correct in the sense that a new cardiac stent can "want" to form clots, but kind of missed the bigger picture - you're a heart attack (or in your case, another heart attack) waiting to happen. The stent keeps your artery open. The Plavix (or whatever) reduces the chances of a clot/occlusion forming and getting you back to square one. Be a good boy and take your Plavix.

I think "standard" protocol is one year after a stent. No heart attacking, but I had two stents put in my LAD, and another 16 months later. I may never get off of this shite! It sucks because everything bleeds and continues to bleed, but it's the price of doing business and it certainly beats the eternal dirt nap.

Glad you're on the road to recovery. I hope you have a quick and complete journey.

Genetic.

Repatha is used together with cholesterol-lowering medications in people with homozygous or heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (inherited types of high cholesterol). These conditions can cause high blood levels of LDL cholesterol, and can also cause plaque to build up inside your arteries. (wiki)

Again, for those who haven't read my previous statement. This stuff changed my life.

Man, glad you are doing better. Based on your posts, you seem like a really good dude. Glad you decided to go by the fire station and get checked out. Hope you never go through that again and have a happy and healthy life.

Heart attack on anniversary of D-Day. On some new meds. Will get stents soon. Good luck to you. Stents have come a long, long way.

What were your symptoms? I’ve had sharp pains under my left shoulder blade, deep in my chest and down my left arm for about a month now. Also fatigued and occasionally a little dizzy when I stand. Am I dead already?

Go to the ER.

What should I expect other than certain death.

1) to stay on dual anti platelet therapy until the cardiologist thinks it’s a good idea to get off it
2) to stay on a statin and increase the dose until your LDL falls below 70mg/dL, or to intensify therapy until the goal is reached, even if it means a monthly/bimonthly medication in addition to a statin
3) no tobacco in any form
4) no illicit stimulants
5) more exercise
6) probably could increase your polyunsaturated fat intake while decreasing your saturated fat intake
7) probably 1/5 the sodium you are used to

This was a real problem when stents first came out and they were bare metal. Now they are on the 2nd (or 3rd?) gen of stents that have medication built in - 'drug eluting stents', and this has greatly been reduced. I pulled some papers from PubMed and found that the incidence of serious events has almost reached parity when comparing CABG to stenting, especially for cases that are not super complex. In some of the analyses they don't find a statistical difference once they remove revascularization from an outcome measure - but with regard to MI, stroke, death, they are very similar now. Revascularization and other complications takes place more often with CABG in the near term after surgery, and more often with stents in the longer term.

Drug eluting stents have been a big step forward.

Eating all day long "healthy foods" dropped weight.

255ish when I had the heart attack.

208 this morning.

Haven't started any type of "training" yet. Going to cardio rehab a couple days a week.

Embraced eating heart healthy my wife is taking care of the right food in our home. I started manipulating my metabolism with my eating habits. I eat a small portion of something every 1.5 hrs. stating around 6:30am. I get up @ 3:50 am and have some cowboy coffee.
It's not all healthy I've mixed in a steak or four when at camp along with a few cold drinks but then it's back to the right stuff.
The staff at cardio rehab says my metrics are off the chart heading in the right direction. Blood pressure is perfect. They are encouraging me to start training again on my own at as low as I keep my heart rate down. I spike it while at therapy 150 bpm and they start getting on me. My response is "What better place to redline than right here."
