sigh. Heard of Exxon? Dow? Turner?
I'm talking about out of state educated college graduates.
Why would they move to Baton Rouge, from out of state no less, when they could likely make a lot more (with a much better quality of life) in their same field (even if that is oil and gas) in another state (like Texas?)?
ETA: Hell...even many college graduates from LA move to Texas for better job opportunities.

Louisiana gives college away for free to its residents...yet still many leave for other states right after they graduate college because of higher paying job opportunities/better quality of life that other states offer.
Yet you think out of state college graduates are just lining up to move to Baton Rouge? You can't be serious...

I know out of staters who work at all of those companies, coming out of college. I never said they were lining up to come work in Baton Rouge (for near 6 figure salaries in a lot of cases), did I?
I am serious.

Taxes will definitely be raised. How will ZG fund the campaign to get the school district? How many buildings will be needed? Faculty?
Taxes, this again. Explain, if our area pays 70+% of the taxes for BR, then how will it be a problem for us to fund a better managed, smaller system?

You don't see your own hypocrisy? So, you're admitting the piss poor political climate in Louisiana, namely the capital city, that doesn't stimulate high paying job growth. Yet, your arguing against a sect who is trying to remedy/improve their area from the clown show you are degrading. No one is saying SG is the solution that fixes this, but hey, think global, act local.
BOTH SIDES OF YOUR MOUTH.

Do you have a credible source for this claim or are you pulling numbers out of your arse?
Other than property tax there isn’t a credible way to determine who is paying for what. Even then I seriously doubt that the Village of St George pays 70% of EBR’s tax revenue.
You may be able to determine where sales tax is generated but not who is paying it.

While Scottsdale is 81.1% white(and I haven't always lived in Scottsdale and may not always live there in the valley)....several surrounding PHX areas in PHX metro are not. Many of those areas might be 50% white...yet still many of those areas have their shite together.
The entire state is only 4% black.

You should learn the ordinance bro. It’ll give you a hint. Louisiana doesn’t use the word soliciting, we use peddling. Which is defined as propositioning someone for goods or services in exchange for money. Gathering petition signatures is not covered under this, which is why they are not affected by the no solicitation rules. The more you know!
I am glad your google works, still don't care. Get off my lawn!

They love to throw this out. Even after paring back, significantly, the proposed boundary of St G they still think they are paying most of the taxes. That's OT rich for you. The new city wont solve shite when fewer opportunities in general arise from lack of better state and regional management of what resources Louisiana has to capitalize on. People will continue to leave. Again, what makes great cites great is not what the ST Gers are trying to do. Ive lived in Seattle, Denver, and Phoenix. Only in BR because of circumstances. But, as always, Ive made the best of it and call it home. I can see what made those cities great places to call home and its an overall awareness of an enlightened electorate to make their city and state great and be proud of.

I didn’t have to google. I just know the definition of soliciting because I’m not a stupid shite like yourself.

Uh huh.... I’m sure there isn’t anything else that is glaringly different between Baton Rouge and Seattle, Denver, and Phoenix.
I just.... can’t.... seem..... to.... put... my.... finger.... on.... it.....
Why don’t you just come out and say what you REALLY mean.

St. George has had its signatures for weeks. It’s gonna happen. SWB’s inner circle has already accepted it and are talking. It’s time to start damage control.

St George is happening, it’s just a matter of time.

Guess what I did live in California, Texas, Florida, and presently own a home in Minnesota near not in the twin while while still owning a home in BR. I guess that makes me an enlightened voter also.
I guess since you are so enlightened can you pass me some of your Gray Poupon mustard?
What made some of older cities great in some of these states has been destroyed. If you notice cities like the twin cities in Minnesota or LA in California the middle class with families are moving to surrounding towns that have more of a localized Govt.
As far as BR people in the St george area have different needs that people inside the city of Baton Rouge.
During the flood there was an argument when the curfew was put on the whole parish.
If the city of BR and the city of St George were separate governments both cities could decide what was best for their people.
EBRP also dropped the ball helping people get building permits to get their homes back.
Having separate governments and governments that are smaller they could react more to their constituents needs.
Right now unless you live in Southdowns, Mid City or NBR the city parish really does not care about you until you mess with their taxes.
If St George was not a large tax base in this parish why is the City of BR fighting to keep them from becoming a city?
In reality this area should not hurt any area of this parish if this are becomes a city. The part of the sales tax that goes to parish functions will just go the the city’s functions. Parish form of Govt does not have to have for services preformed that would be classified as city services.
BR the same way their city taxes raised inside the city should stay inside the city. If they cannot manage their finances the parish taxes should not be used for city projects or to plug holes in the cities budget.

I will say it. Baton Rouge will never succeed with it's current racial demographics.

Seems to me you’re dancing around what you really want to say.
So, what’s the biggest difference between Baton Rouge and those three cities?
Posted on 6/24/18 at 12:02 pm to Ponchy Tiger
Addressing what Ive posted about before would change those demographics long term and thats what happened in all those cities, ultimately.
