After unprecedented violence over the past several months, homicides in East Baton Rouge Parish have tied the previous record set in 2017 as 2020 promises to become the parish's most murderous year in recorded history.

quote:

Two fatal shootings on Wednesday preceded the news Friday afternoon that another man, who was shot Tuesday night on Scotland Avenue, had died in the hospital. Those killings pushed the parishwide murder count to a historic high — 106 lives lost to violence so far this year, according to unofficial records maintained by The Advocate.

Five people have been shot to death since last week, a rate of killing that dwarfs previous years but tragically has become commonplace in 2020.

And the mayor who has done nothing at all to stop it will likely be reelected tomorrow night by the same people who are killing each other at this rate.

She had the nerve to insist she was doing a great job on crime just last night in the debate.

My wife and I will be voting for Carter. He wasn't my choice but I'll take him over the status quo.

Those numbers aren’t correct. BRPD is working number 108 on the year right now. There have been another 19-20 in the parish that other agencies have worked.

Just about every decent size city has soon murder rates rise over the last 2 or 3 years. Just like every city saw decreases in the early 2000s. It some sort of national cycle of rises and falls and rises.

So if you are keeping score at home, EBR broke the record for homicides, by at least 10, in 2017...Broome's first year in office. This, following 2016 where EBR had the lowest number of homicides in a decade.

NOW, not to be outdone, EBR has broke 2017's record just three years later!! Who said SWB wasn't bringing progress to EBR? We are definitely progressing upwards in the murder totals...while the level of animosity towards the police is at all time highs.

You know, if only the people in EBR could change the mayor. Oh wait! They can. Tomorrow actually!!!!

Kip was the last Democrat I voted for and think, though not ALL great, he did some good things for EBR. Broome is doing everything possible in addition to wasting millions of taxpayer money, to turn the parish in to a barren wasteland.

If you live in EBR and don't go to vote this moron and her cronies out tomorrow, then shame on you.
