This kind of thing shows how tiny the odds are. They've already sold more than a billion tickets for this jackpot over the drawings since the last winner, and not a single one of those tickets had a winning combination. They will sell almost a billion more for this next drawing. Think about that for a second. They can sell a billion tickets and not one of them win.

I'm still buying a ticket.

Looking through the past winners and it seems like your odds of winning are exponentially higher if you live in the state of New York.

your odds dont really increase much from 1 to 100 tickets. but they increase significantly from 0 to 1 ticket.

Im still buying 10 tickets.

We have a small office here and everyone is chipping in 20 dollars

I know I won't win but it helps me drive home the point that I don't really want to be here

I am sticking with my strategy of buying 1 every time these lotteries get ridiculous. It is $2 to spend for the lottery porn that runs through your head that you can quit your job, travel etc.

The last MM winner was on July 24 in California. $522 million. Sold at Ernie's Liquors in San Jose.

I'll throw in another $3 and we can get a rotisserie chicken from Costco. That's probably the same feeling as winning the lottery.

Spinoff: If you held the winning ticket, and you had the opportunity to sell it to a third party in return for complete anonymity, what you be willing to give up? I think a 20% discount would be a fair trade.
