Please. 911 busybodies are the worst and the cops often make no attempt to corroborate their stories before blazing in like they did in this example. What was "very stupid" was roaring in within 10 feet of the kid.

It was pretty stupid, and indicative of the whole "cops should never have to stay back or retreat" mantra.

So even the person concerned with a potential weapon in the park is an idiot? Good grief, you're a hack.

Yes. 911 busybodies contribute to the problem at large. There was recently a case in California where the caller had a backpack stolen with a laptop or something and the caller said the thief was armed...so the cops promptly rolled up and shot an unarmed perp.

No dumbass, I admit this is what the person was armed with. Prove by looking at this that it is a toy.

I'm no defender of cops, but what do you expect them to do? Calmly walk up to a suspect that has been identified as armed with a handgun by citizens and ask them if they can examine it to see if it says "airsoft" in 2MM tall letters on the side?

Yes! White people should get the same media attention, but white people are not the ones getting shot for having toy guns. So there is no reverse discrimination. How many unarmed white people are getting killed on a regular basis?

White people are killed by cops at a much higher rate than blacks. If you are white and you have a run in with a cop, you are more likely to be killed than if you are black and have a run in with a cop.

How is that even remotely relevant to this situation?

I expect them to follow a more rational protocol than blazing into a grass field in their car directly in front of a kid.

How is the competence of the 911 busybody remotely relevant? Because they got the ball rolling. Video shows many minutes of the kid just sitting on the picnic tables. He wasn't "waving the gun at citizens"...ever.

There is video. LINK It's why the cops were called.

Not really.

Yes really At 1:00 mark, cop car pulls up and he is walking to the car.

quote:

Partner is an idiot also.

Yes. Doesn't change the fact that the shooting officer was put 15 ft from an individual said to be in possession of a gun.

quote:

Including the cops who shot him waiting 240 seconds before attempting first aid. Perhaps that is the negligent homicide angle they should hit them with.

Would not argue with that and feel it is very possibly deserved. It's not murder though.

You linked a story from California, dummy. How is that remotely relevant? Should I link a story of a black man attacking a cop as a way to justify this story? Of course not. I'm not stupid.

I am not defending the cop, and he shouldn't be defended. But if someone sees someone else in a park with a gun, they are not an idiot for calling the cops.

No

Whites 70% of the American pop. 49% of the people killed by police.

blacks 13% of the American pop. 30% of the people killed by police.

Do you understand how percentages work?

Total population is not important here. How many white individuals committed crimes? How many were shot and killed? How many black individuals committed crimes? How many were shot and killed? Law abiding citizens shouldn't factor into the equation.

He was playing with a toy gun. Where is he "waving it at citizens"?

quote:

At 1:00 mark, cop car pulls up and he is walking to the car.

He appears to be lazily moving for one second in the general direction of where the cop car came screaming up to out of nowhere. It is not clear at all that he "approached" the cop car intentionally.

It's whatever the law says it is...which could be negligent homicide?

And also said they weren't sure. It's not the caller's job to make that call. It's the cops'. Still not seeing the connection with linking this to a story where people lie to the cops. They gave them as much info as possible. It's exactly what they should have done.

Someone's waving a gun around the may or may not be real, Let me guess you naturally assume it's not real....

You asked me and I told you: 911 busybodies can and often are a part of the overall problem of police overreach. I don't know how else to make it more clear than that. I provided you with an example of such. If you don't like it, fine. Dummy.

I think this the only people who should be counted. What crime did this 12 year old commit? Because blacks no matter what the circumstance are viewed as the problem they will continue to be murdered while unarmed. Police have a preconceived notion that every black person is a threat to their safety. The same white kid playing with a toy gun would have totally been treated differently. White kid is just playing cops and robbers or some shite. Black kid is a thug with a gun.

Where do you get the waving part from? Please give a link.

ETA- there are some surveillance videos of him holding it up. I guess you could qualify that as waving.

Ultimately I don't know if it matters as the gun was in his pants when police arrived.
