But of course we shouldn't have expected too much of an emotionally unstable dolt who was deemed unfit for duty by his last employer.

He was armed. If he was not smart enough to know not to wave a gun of any type at police then it's Darwinism at it's best.

You know the dude had previously failed weapons training in a different dept, right? Was said by his superiors there to be "emotional when brandishing a weapon", but was hired by CPD due to staffing needs.
He had MANY other options. He was just too incompetent of a police officer to evaluate them and implement the correct one. He fricked up, and should pay the consequences for his incompetence. And frankly, so should CPD.

Weren't there two cops in the car that pulled up? Did both shoot or was it only one of them. I watched the video a long time ago and don't remember.
EtA: Just watched the video. Two cops, and it looked like the passenger was the one that shot the kid. Poor decision making on both cops, but the circumstances likely mitigate their poor decisions such that murder is not really going to fly.

SO all that means the little delinquent waving the gun at police was justified?
Doesn't matter what the officers past was IMO, he did the right thing that day. Pull a gun out on police , get shot.
Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

None of this matters.
Don't want to get shot? Don't wave a gun around. It's pretty simple. At that age, I'm more inclined to blame the parents rather than him.

Depends on what the "murder" charges are. 1st degree murder? No. Some sort of version of Maryland's "depraved heart murder" which is effectively negligent homicide? Possibly.
