If that's the case, then I doubt he gets charged.

From what I simply saw on the video, this is a misapplication of the stand your ground law as written in FL.

What was said between the parties could have an impact. But we dont have the benefit of audio.

Also there is an argument to be made that the shooter was committing disorderly conduct/breach of peace st the time he was pushed. That would depend, again, on what he said and how he said it. If you were committing a crime at the time, you can't use stand your ground.

Study just came out saying homicide fatality rate among white males up 25% in states with stand your ground law. I have already handled two cases in Mississippi.

It applies to cars, jet skis, boats, tractors, atvs, just standing around etc. A lot of angry people just lie in wait and kill first person that loses his temper. Great law. I think isis really drafted it.

You must be a small, small man with an inflated sense of self-worth.

"Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."

"Arrogance diminishes wisdom."

In this case, is it more important to be alive or to defend the honor of your wife from some perceived slight?

This says a lot about our courts in Louisiana

Defend yourself in Florida, walk free. Defend yourself in Louisiana, go to jail with that gasser guy

Right. Also, if illegally parked in a handicap spot she probably deserves some ridicule.

This is a major problem in the US.

People have a difficult time understanding the giant chasm that exists between a verbal confrontation and a physical one. Its literally the difference between exercising a Constitutionally protected right and committing a felony. Fortunately, with the rise of CCLs, U.S. citizens are being constantly reminded of this chasm. I consider it an exercise in education. Learning the hard way.

But he didn't. You don't react to what MiGHT have happened had you hit your head wrong. You don't need to use deadly force because you get pushed.

Some of you sound like absolute fricking pussies. I don't go around getting in fights with people and the pusher was likely pure white trash. However, if someone's reaction to simply getting pushed with no imminent threat of further physical violence, is to pull a gun out and shoot and kill someone, they are a gigantic fricking pussy.

Let's be real, though, getting pushed down without any further punches or kicks or attacks of any kind is not a reason to pull out your gun and shoot and kill someone.
Well, that was a pretty violent push that happened. And we don’t know what was going through the guys head who just did the shooting. Threat to your life is pretty subjective and it means different things to different people.

ETA there is a whole lot more evidence and things I would need to hear from witnesses before I could make a accurate determination in this case.

Process over results.

Your logic doesn't really hold up, to be honest.

Says you.

People die ALL THE TIME from simple fisticuffs. This isnt UFC, bro. Your average Joe Blow doesnt train enough to know how to protect themselves from serious bodily injury in a street brawl. Also, while thats happening your wife or children may be getting assaulted off to the side. You want to take that chance?

Once some douchenozzle decides to elevate a verbal argument to caveman violence they implicitly accept the potential to sustain a life-ending injury whether by fists, feet, club, knife or firearm. The law agrees with me.

TL;DR - Dont start no shite wont be no involuntary-sphincter-release.

Did these studies control for variables and other causation?

IOW, firearm studies are usually agenda driven shite peddled and disseminated by Pied Pipers of Pussification.

Did they even consider the possibility that those 25% got what was coming to them and without stand-you-ground we would have many times that number in assaults, robberies and rapes?

But he didn’t, and wasn’t.

And unless there was some impending threat of further issue.... it’s tough to see someone shot there

He didn’t violate the law but I agree he’s a huge pussy for shooting that dude.

He got pushed to the ground and when the gun was pulled the guy backed away.
