Points from presser:

- First notice was suspect involved in hit and run in Ruth's car. A witness obtained the license plate.
- Police attempted to find Ruth for hit and run. Eventually called her daughter, determined she was missing.
- Several hours later suspect located in Ruth's car in Walgreens parking lot.
- Surveillance video from school shows suspect riding bike in front of Ruth's house, speaking with Ruth and Fr. Odis earlier in afternoon.
- Video shows suspect at Acquistapaces.
- Video shows suspect returning to Ruth's house on foot and with knife behind his back.
- Enters house, next seen pulling vehicle to rear of house, then driving away.
- Video shows vehicle driving behind Dependable Glass.
- Video shows suspect at gas station filling gas container.
- No comment as to motive.
- No evidence suspect has any prior relationship with the victims, the church or the school.
- Fr. Odis beaten and stabbed.

Hell isn't hot enough for that motherfricker.

Coroner Charles Preston said Thursday that the cause of death for Prats was blunt force trauma. Like Young, her death has been ruled a homicide.

During the joint news conference between the coroner and Covington Police Department, authorities began to reveal some details of the gruesome slayings, which have stunned many people across the north shore.

Young and Prats were beloved in Covington, both fixtures of St. Peter parish.

One man, identified as Antonio Tyson, has been arrested in the crime, booked with two counts of first-degree murder and several other crimes.

A motive has not been released and investigators would not reveal where they think the homicides took place or where the bodies were burned.

Tyson was captured on video surveillance filling a container of gasoline, but Lt. Kevin Collins could not immediately say what time that occurred.

But authorities said there is no evidence that Tyson knew either victim prior to the homicides. Tyson did not work for St. Peter School, officials said.

Investigators were first alerted by a call of a hit and run on East Boston Street next to Bogue Falaya Towers at 7:11 p.m. Sunday, Collins said. A witness provided the license plate number of the vehicle, a Honda CRV, and police learned that it belong to Prats. When they were unable to contact her, they contacted her family, and members were likewise unable to reach her.

Family members met police at Prats' home at 216 S. Washington Street and it was heard ringing in a nearby dumpster, Collins said. At that point, her name and vehicle description were entered into a national data base of missing persons.

Her vehicle was found by Covington police at 3:43 a.m. Monday parked at a drug store U.S. Business 190, with Tyson and a woman inside. They were taken to the Covington Police Department for questioning.

Police also learned that Otis had been at Prats' home earlier Sunday, and church officials checked his apartment and discovered he was not there.

The call that possible human remains had been discovered behind Dependable Glass came in at 5:49 a.m.

Video surveillance from St. Peter School showed Tyson, riding a bicycle in the neighborhood Sunday afternoon, Collins said and showed him speaking to both Prats and Otis at 3:53 p.m.

Video showed him parking his bicycle at a nearby grocery store and then walking to Prats' home, and knocking on the door, holding a knife behind his back in a crouched position.

Video then showed him leaving the house at 6:26 p.m. in Prats' vehicle.

They put out a timeline, but I missed that part.

Positively identified Ruth Prats.

That's about all the info they released. Other questions were about why they closed the schools and stuff like that. How they identified the priest.

Basically, just a shite bag that never should have been released from prison. He shouldn't go back to prison either, just take him out back and quit wasting time.

Feel bad for the Fr. Bru(he did awesome), they asked about them providing help for people. Cant help but feel like maybe some counselors need to help them right now.

They just need to chain this guy to a bench in front of the court house, and let the local citizenry take care of business.

When is Governor Honor Code going to take responsibility for appointing far left whackjobs to the parole board who let this scumbag rapist out of prison WAY too early?

JBE and the parole board should be put on trial in St. Tammany as accomplices.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here (because I hate the slimy cocksucker JBE) and say that the parole board did not make a decision in this case. He did enough time (30 years of a 40 year sentence) to be released by state law. In other words, no one decided to let him out early; it was mandated by law. However, it is a sucky law and should be changed for violent offenders.

It's Louisiana?

and the powers that be were getting tired of "Louisiana has the highest rate of incarceration per capita in the world! REEEEE!" so they activated the revolving door.

It has probably always been like this. Time off for "good time", right?

Good time, earned compliance credits, whatever in the hell you want to call it.

But for serious offenses this shouldn't be the case.

A violent guy spends thirty years in prison and then cut him loose. The guy understands nothing but violence.
What in the hell did they think was going to happen?

While the reports on this case have hardly been a model of clarity, I have read that this was a parole board decision because he got into trouble while serving his sentence.

Almost like he wanted to go back to prison. That was the best plan to kill and rob two people? You’d think he would he more savvy after spending 30 years amongst other criminals

The only question we got regarding the parole was if the authorities were notified of the release- would have been a nice follow up question on who and why he was released early. Is it standard for authorities to be or not be notified when a convicted violent rapist is released to society early?

So horrendous and why? For a car, a little money or to rape the poor woman?

Since he was in prison for so long, he may not be aware that there are cameras all over the place these days. Too bad.
