he has a reloadable debit/gift card.
Traceable like a credit card
But only if they know it’s your card. Credit cards have a name, you can get a reloadable in anyone’s name. Now they could trace it if the parents are dumb enough to send the money straight to the card, definitely.

It's not going to turn out well for them, though. It's going to be REAL hard to get away with this if they're really aiding and abetting.
I would think they would have stropped after getting him a head start since they will live under a microscope now but who knows.
I do wonder about their business. It's juice vending machine operation and if they actually do the money pickup they could have access to a stream of cash to try to siphon off and maybe try to go cold war spy and dead drop to him. Risky and stupid but would be great in the movie.

Nope. Not anymore. Any reloadable card requires name, address, SS, etc. The card is in your name and 100% traceable.
I don't even think the legacy cards that were released prior to these regs work anymore

Is there evidence that they were drug users? Could she have OD'd while he was away?

If he tried to bundle the body or used the cargo bag as a body bag it would have helped preserve the body while leading straight to him. Stupid yes but stranger thing have happened.
BL is not thinking like a serial killer trying to get away with another one of his murders.
He is thinking like a guy who just killed the love of his life. He wants to honor her with covering her body not leaving her lifeless body out in the open in a disgraceful manner.

So does this make reloadable cards racist?

BL may have gone on a camping trip with his parents on Labor Day weekend. One of the neighbors saw them leave with a camper in tow for a long weekend.
I'm fascinated to know what conversations they had those first few days when he showed up back at the house without her.

I would like to know where they went… Did he leave some supplies at a location for him to retrieve at some later date?

What struck the neighbors as odd is that they thought it to be too small of a camper trailer for three people, stirring suspicion that they were taking him somewhere.
It also seemed odd to them that an adult male his age would go camping with his parents.
Was he ever seen at the house after they got back?
I have no idea what happened. But it wouldn't surprise me at all if they took him somewhere, then planted his car at the reserve and concocted that story about him going there to hike. If they did and they're caught, they'll be prosecuted unless they cut a deal.

About an hour ago, they left the house again in Dad's truck. I imagine their every movement is being watched now, at least from a distance.
edit: Apparently they left the house, went and picked up BL's car from the police, she drove it back followed by Dad, then she got in Dad's truck and they left the house again.

You may be right I don’t know. But again, how hard would it be to get a fake card in a distant relatives name? I doubt this is the case anyway. But it’s not like they are using credit or stealing anything, getting a prepaid card is likely extremely easy.
With gift cards these days though I mean you could make a purchase online of gift cards that would otherwise look very normal.

Probably also quietly got a warrant for the parents' cell phone and banking information.
