SO WHAT WE THINK WE KNOW.
They were eating/leaving a restaurant on 8/27 around 1:00ish
Their van was on recording of the passing by vehicle 4.5 hours later in which someone closed back door when vehicle was down road.
Brian's sandal was on ground.
Pretty eerie how close to the time of a possible murder is when that passing vehicle occurred.
eta: she could have been dead already in that van. had they stopped like they wanted to... who knows what that could have led to.

If thee reports are correct. You have an agitated Brian and a crying Gabby riding back to the camping area, the tension that had to be present in the van would be terrible. The smallest thing could have touched off a terrible event.

From the beginning virtually everyone has said he killed her and fled. Prior to the body being found the question was what if that wasn't the case. Even now with BL not being officially named a subject (even if he was) there is still an extremely small percentage of a chance that he didn't kill her and just fled after he found the body because he thought he would be blamed and/or freaking out.
Part of the draw of this homicide early on was how weird the entire situation was and how few facts there were.

You are thinking about the official campsites. Outside of the park there are lots of places to camp.
I was thinking he could have at least introduced doubt that someone else did it had he flown home. Maybe he killed her in the van and needed to drive it home and scrub it really good to get rid of evidence.

I'd say the chance he didn't kill her is higher than that but I know what you mean. Again, virtually everyone has said he killed her but are just discussing other scenarios, however unlikely. It's an interesting case so it lends itself to discussion and alternate scenarios.
