how much would you spend to save a 15 year old cat?
I'm having a quasi moral dilemma
he's killed a lot of critters and used to rule this neighborhood, the last 2 years the other cats have been pushing him around...

He’s probably got another 4-5 years in him

All that really matters here is how much YOU are willing to pay. If the cat means alot you and your family, it may be worth it. If it is not a drastic, longshot that had a low chance of success, that is.

I know it sucks to hear this and I’m not trying to be shitty, but 15 years is damn old for any pet. I’d say keeping him/her alive beyond what is naturally trying to happen is not good for the cat.

My mom's dog just died at 19. I thought it was a little cruel that she wouldn't put it down the last few years. Poor dog was blind and couldn't eat solid food.
At some point it's time to go.

Your cat getting pushed around ? Sounds like he is a pussy.

I have 4 kids and am paying just under $1000 a month for the 20 year old to be at Auburn
we are blessed, kid graduated with a 4 3 and got a 32 in the ACT, 33 with a super score
Bama offered a full ride, UGA offered to waive out of state tuition, and AU offered a 3/4 ride
I told the boy ROLL TIDE, but the wife said that he had worked hard enough to go where he wanted, and sometimes it's worth it to keep your powder dry for a more important fight...
cat will cost a minimum of $600 and probably well over $1,000, maybe even closer to $2,000
I can afford it, but it would crimp my style for doing fun shite with the 12 and 9 year old this summer
I do well, but am not an "OT baller"
fwiw, the 12 year old is allergic, but not so bad that it's an issue, we found out when he was 5 and the cat mostly stays outside...

Honestly, I inherited a male tabby cat that was 12 years old. His name was peanut. When he turned 13 he got real sick with liver disease. We had decided to give him to a lady that took care of sick cats. Unfortunately, peanut died at 13. 15 years for your cat is pushing the limits anyway but the love for an animal makes it difficult to keep any treatment going if you think your pet is suffering. Tough call man. I still miss my cat 25 years later.

None of that stuff matters. The real question is what does your wife think?

15 is old for a cat, especially an outside one.

So I’ll get laughed at but we spent $800 on a free cat to save him. Urinary issues and he was about 5 or 6 at the time. Here we are almost 6 years later and he’s still here and no further issues. I love that damn fur ball.
Is this likely a one time thing? No one can tell you what it’s worth to you. Good luck.

One of the tougher questions in life. Anyone who owns pets will undoubtedly have to make it. Sorry man.

I would not spend more than $250 to save a 15 year old pet.
Put it down.

After euthanizing a couple of old pets this spring, I’d suggest doing it sooner than later.
Show him one last act of kindness. Don’t make your decision based on your sentimentality, but what’s most compassionate for him.

It sucks but I'd say put the poor thing out of it's misery and spend that money adopting another cat. There are plenty of healthy shelter cats/dogs waiting for a home.

I don't understand. Is he sick? Is there a procedure you're planning to do to make him the bionic cat?
What's wrong with him and is it likely he makes a full recovery?
