Which one is more accurate and causes more damage?

Look I'll admit that I don't know much about guns. So correct me if I am wrong. I know how sensitive you gun owners/masters are. Aren't wrifles more accurate than hand guns? Even in the hands of a complete novice? Aren't the round most often used in them more damaging than the average handgun round? What I mean by average, I am saying 9mm, 45, etc. Which seems to be the most often types of handguns people I know have.

At range. Not in close quarters of a bar. It's a wash at that point.

ha, guns are bad in the hands of idiots, people with no regard for life, and mentally ill people.

Obviously this is Trumps fault, because he is literally hitler, and because the shooter was white, and likely a nationalist because he fought for his country.

How soon until you spin this as "actors" and "fake marines" to make Trump look bad?

Bad deal.

Millions suffer from PTSD and don't go shoot up bars on a random Wednesday night.

The .45 would cause more damage than 5.56 in close range like that.

OK, that I get that. Goes along with what I have always heard was that handguns are preferred in close quarters.

Dumping more money into impoverished areas doesn't help

I’d love to think this would help as education could help change the mindset that plagues impoverished areas but sadly I think it would take much more.

Also these shootings are typically carried out by people that have no difficulty with basic human needs, they are typically mentally damaged. That’s what bothers me most about a lot of these mass shooting situations, typically the perp is “flagged” I always here they were monitoring these people but later determined they are ok. Like comon there has to be a reason they pop up on the radar, why let these people roam freely and purchase weapons without first completing lengthy evaluations of them. At worst these evaluations can place some stress on these identified targets and possibly get them to show signs their mental guard wouldn’t otherwise allow. Idk these situations make me sad/angry and I’m just spitballing.

It all depends on what you are trying to do. Is a long rifle more accurate at 100 yards? Absolutely. Inside a bar though it's a lot easier to move, aim, etc with a handgun because it is compact.

Long rifles rounds are shot at a higher velocity meaning it can penetrate more but a handgun, especially a 45, has a MUCH larger slug.

They also reported the crisis unit had just visited his home in April and evaluated him and didn’t find any reason to commit him

This will not go well on here, but if you have a crisis unit at your home to determine whether you should be committed to a mental institution, you should not be able to purchase or own a handgun for quite some time. Downvote away.

I agree. Many normal people own many many guns and don't go shoot up concerts, high schools, etc.

It is a bad deal, I agree. IT DOESN'T STOP THE NARRATIVE, IT ONLY FEEDS IT.

Common sense.

But I guess I want to take away everyone's guns.

230gr JHP coming out of a 45 is packing ~450 ft-lbs of energy

55gr M193 is packing 1200+

Can't even compare the devastation between the 2. 5.56 has more energy at 300yd than a 45 point blank.

Went from terrorist narrative to mental health narrative rather quickly. Gotta wait until the facts come out before we start digging our trenches.

Uh... No.

Varmint loads in a .223 are devastating inside of 300 yards. And definitely at close range.
