Bout $450 ea for a normal marine bouant PLB. Not an expense these companies see as necessary and certainly not required by any safety authority.
Events like this tend to create new safety regulations.

So we have a sticky for a shooting in the midwest, but not for an ongoing rescue operation for multiple people in our backyard??
Does the sticky get them rescued any faster? OK.

Same here. So I would think there are at least two people still alive in the boat?
There is a Facebook page SL scanner that has a update from last night from what appears to be a family member. Shows a thermal image of what appears to be heat signiture of two people in the top portion of the hull. Do not know how to post pics but the post was from late last night not sure of the pic timing?!
Never mind pic was taken 2000hr Tuesday night

2 re-entering the boat.
If they re-entered the boat on purpose they should be able to re-exit the boat?
Hope they figure out how to get a diver in there.

What I read today on the SL Scanner page said that the divers had found a point of entry and would be diving early this am.

The question I have is do we think the POB had their life vests on when the liftboat flipped? It needs to go beyond life vests and PFDs.....to me there needs to be some type of technology on the work clothes. Simply for location and closure if they go overboard / underwater with no life jacket.
The issue that was reported earlier was that life jackets in some situations may hinder the guys in getting out of the boats. So they prefer to exit, and then put their life jackets on.
I was just a charter fishing deckhand so I won't comment on that or the proper procedure, but it makes sense. I'm not sure what the perfect solution is though when the SHTF.

Could this be related to the earlier spotted survival pod seen floating near ST37? Please let us know if this is truthful information that an additional person has been found. Families are desperate for information.
Sorry to say I have no info besides what I read a page or so ago. Someone posted that a victim was recovered near Lake Pelto. I speculated that if that was true, that it was probaly recovered in the South Pelto area as Lake Pelto proper is more inland.
As to the survival capsule mentioned the first evening I don’t know what became of it.
My prayers continue to go to all involved.

Once everyone gets vaccinated with their microchips they would be easier to track and locate

It would be almost impossible once it flips.
When we do HUET they flip us upside down in a helo simulator in a pool and you would be amazed how difficult it is to maintain composure and your hands are on the window ready to escape!!!

There was a fatality at EI 331 where a guy fell through some grating, and he was never recovered from the GOM.
Allegedly

You can be ready to escape, but what you aren't ready for is the guys next to you panicking and grabbing you.
When I first started, they had this pvc frame with chairs on it and they would manually flip it. Easy to get out of and it wasnt even 5ft of water. I watched a guy almost drown in that thing and they kept yelling for him to stand up.
Water freaks people out for some reason. Now that helicopter simulation they have now is not bad but you are easily prepared for it. The guy next to me couldn't open the window because he's freaking out. I'm still strapped in waiting and I'm like screw this, I swam out the back. They made us redo it 3 times until that guy got out. I told the diver let me sit next to the window and he can put his arm on me so I can help him out but they wouldn't do it.

2 reported they were going back in the hull

I am still trying to figure this part out.
I’m with you. Can someone with knowledge please explain. Were these two people no longer in danger and decided to go back down and attempt to save their co workers?

Probably this. Adrenaline does a lot for decision making when you are in the moment
ETA: Grown men, even in controlled training situations, can be uncontrollable and dangerous to those around them

They should probably wear an EPIRB even when they aren’t wearing a life vest.
THIS. Hook it to a belt or clothing. Maybe inside the jumpsuit. Its really no bigger than a cellphone.

I for one, advocate for LARGER windows on those helos….. No comments necessary.

Another round of potentially severe thunderstorms rolling through the accident area right now.
This weather needs to get out of here so they can rescue/find these guys.
