For the past 5 years, I get random texts asking if I’m interested to sell my house. I never respond and have flagged them as spam when deleting them. Averages about a new text once/month from different numbers.

Our tentative plan is to sell house in about two years. It’s in a highly desirable area but modest sized (maybe 500k) and could use 30k of renovations for floors and repairs. Would prefer NOT having to renovate and just accept 30k less.

Likely will go the traditional route but wondering if I should start saving these random text numbers. Then in two years send out a group text saying ‘All of you have reached out in recent years to ask if I’m open to receiving offers on my house. Make your best offer if still interested’.

Then if any offers come through that are better than traditional route (and no renovations necessary), go for it. Anyone ever done something like this before?

I get them too. I ignore them. Probably a scam.

I usually tell them $1.5 million... They don't follow up...

I not only get texts, but they call and leave voice mail as well. And regular mail. It's out of control really.

Five hundred thousand square feet is not “modest sized”:

I just tell realtors I’ll take 2 million and not a penny less. When they say that’s double the value. I respond I paid $500,000 with a 2.7% interest mortgage, that’s what it would take for me to sell.

I get texts and phone calls weekly. Sometimes daily. Between these assholes wanting to buy my house, and the Indian scammers, I've had to use the option on my iphone where every call that isn't in my contacts has to leave a message before it rings my phone.

They are looking for people in desperate straits that will sell cheaply.

These are wholesalers that will only be interested in conducting business if they can convince you to sell significantly below market value so that they can make s spread.

Absolutely not.

They can find your house on Zillow and/or talk to your realtor when you’re ready. Do not contact those randos.

I usually respond and mess with them. Telling them I will sell for $900K and they pay all closing costs.

Not unsolicited texts, but I have had two different people show up to my house.

One was wanting to purchase for Family Dollar and the other for Dollar Tree. Each wanted to pay low end on residential and make it commercial which didnt sit well in my mind. Knowing the land is the only spot within their specs in this town PLUS wanted me to go pull all of the property info from clerk of courts office for them. Hell to the naw!

Now that I wanna sell and move outta state these fools are silent.

Even after you sell the home you will continue to get calls from someone who says they are interested in purchasing it. When you tell them that you have sold it, or are not interested, their follow up question 100% of the time will be, "well, then... Do you have any other properties you might be interested in selling?"

They are scammers from the "git-go" and haven't an honest bone in their entire bodies. Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent these bastards from calling every once in awhile. The federal "Do Not Call" registry has been as worthless as tits on a boar hog from day one.

If Facebook has taught me anything, it's that you need to reply I DO NOT CONSENT in all caps to get them to stop. If that doesn't work, try I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THIS MUSIC.

I get texts several times a month with offers to buy some farm acreage I own. They never include a $/acre ballpark offer. Those messages get reported as junk as soon as I see them.

I did that once and never heard back.

I also get a lot of tree removal and new windows emails.

I get that a lot. It's not really a nice house either, to be honest.

I simply delete the texts, once in a blue moon I reply "1 million". I throw the mail out, and sadly enough I don't answer my phone if I don't recognize the caller. It's crazy that they often do leave voice mails.

It's a scam, they are looking to get WELL under market value. Like 50% of value off.

You should have said "who's calling who again?"
