my point was that it seems like maybe BRPD needs to start cleaning up the area somewhat.
That area won't be cleaned up unless the city shuts down the halfway house near there. There's a guy who's running a private halfway house for addicts and homeless people. He provides them with a place to sleep and transportation to street corners around that area. They coordinate who will panhandle where so that the same person isn't begging at the same intersection 2 days in a row. It's a racket.
BRPD gives zero f&%ks about panhandlers, property crime, or violent crime. They only care about things that bring in revenue like speed traps, DUI checkpoints, inspection stickers, MIP's, open containers downtown, and drug busts that yield lots of contraband. They literally could not care less.
I once called them about a drive-by on my street (thankfully, no one was hurt) and they acted like coming out to investigate a shooting at 8:00pm on a week night was nothing but a HUUUUUUUGE inconvenience, and he did literally zero investigative work. The neighborhood found the shell casings and turned over the surveillance footage showing the cars involved and BRPD literally did nothing with it. I doubt they ever even looked at it. The car that did the shooting still drives through the neighborhood at night regularly. F&%k those lazy, incompetent bastards.

You misspelled "a B-52"

While I see panhandlers by the street in front of the place constantly, I have never heard of or seen a single instance of someone being hassled in the parking lot.

How is that hobby lobby's responsibility
It's happening in their parking lot. If they don't want customers feeling uncomfortable in the parking lot they can easily have these people removed. If someone were begging your guests for money in your driveway would you feel it your responsibility to stop them?

Where is this halfway house? I know of the ones in Mid-City but not that area.

I haven't found it yet, but I've seen the cars coming by and picking up the homeless after their "shift".

The game stop nerds is not what I was referring too. There are a couple stores that attract a certain demographic.
Can we just say black folks? Nobody likes low key racists.

Is the state paying him for this? What's the deal with this racket.

He takes a cut of their daily take, for sure. I'm not sure if he gets any state money or not.

There have been a few burglaries on South Ardenwood as well. One where a front door was busted into and several lawnmower thefts from garages.

majority are mental headcases so pretty sure they are very capable of snapping and assaulting someone
some are addicted and as we know, addiction makes you do things you normally wouldn't like assaulting someone or unlicensed massage therapist

I have to pick my kid up from the late school bus at the HL parking lot. I used to be able to leave the windows down on my car while I waited, but the bums see you sitting in your car and approach you and ask for money. This happens almost every day.
I had one continue to approach me after I saw them coming and moved my truck 100 feet to another spot.
I now keep the windows up and the motor running with the AC so I won't sweat my arse off. That doesn't even work, as just before school let out for summer I had one guy who I ignored walk in front of my truck and hang over the hood waving his arms to get my attention. I told him to get the frick away and he left.
They are out of control in that part of town. Holding up a sign is one thing but actively harassing you for money is another.
