Most people do not put emphasis on the work and decision making in their 20s/30s/40s to be able to independently and safely navigate an airport in their 60s/70s

Last time thru Boston airport the line of wheelchair people sitting in a spot waiting to be pushed was probably 50 deep. They had probably 10 guys pushing people to their terminal and the other 40 wheelchair bound people just sat there and waited for them to come back and push them.

90% of the wheelchair people were Middle Eastern or Indian, mostly Indian

Unpopular Opinion Airports

If your body crosses the plain of my armrest into my space, you have to pay for another seat. It’s not mean, it’s physics.

I had a flight last year where a woman took up half of my space and pinned me to the window bulkhead. It was a full flight, so there was nothing that the flight attendants could do.

The lady didn’t apologize for squishing me. She was annoyed that I was touching her. At least it was a short flight.

Depends. I’ve been carted while rehabbing leg injuries. Only in larger airports where the walk distance and my top speed during rehab wouldn’t match up for me to make my flight.

Funny you should mention this. My wife, former personal trainer and marathon runner, who would probably look completely normal and healthy to you, has ALS. Everything currently "works" normally except for her diaphragm and intercostal muscles and ability to speak. She can't walk very far without getting extremely winded and tired.

We flew for the first time yesterday since her diagnosis. She was one of those folks that looked completely normal and could actually walk on her own yet needed a wheel chair.

She'd give absolutely anything to be able to do it on her own, but here we are.

Even though it may inconvenience you a little bit, have a little compassion. While I can understand your frustration, sometimes folks are dealing with things that are unknown to you.

If you need to be wheeled around to your flight because you are in such poor shape that you can’t walk to your terminal or if you are emotionally unstable to the point where you need a service animal with you at all times, then perhaps you shouldn’t be allowed to fly.

As long as you allow for olds getting transported, and legitimate service animals, I am with you 100%.

The ATL airport should open a bar where you don’t have to go through TSA and you could sit and just watch the people walk by all day. My favorites are the parents sprinting through the terminal with their kids trying to make a flight.
.right, but you are only allowed entry into this bar if you yourself have had to sprint through ATL, with spouse or kids.
