I was just talking with a coworker about something similar, was in New York two weeks ago for work and it’s remarkable how thin people are up there because they walk everywhere, you come back to Houston and you realize how many fat fricking disgusting people live in this town

Blame the airlines for packing us in like sardines. But to your point, I generally wear jeans and a t-shirt and bring a hoodie in my backpack.

in all seriousness, it is directly reflective of the lack of respect we have for each other and society writ large.
It wasn't long ago that we presented ourselves to the public with clean clothing, combed hair, and the best attitude we could muster that day. It signaled to others that we were disciplined, educated, civilized. We were treated with respect as a result
Those traits are no longer rewarded by society. Now we reward grievance and victimhood. The adult male would have had a wife and kids a generation ago because society rewarded that. Now he is cuddling a stuffed animal in public and likely got 'accommodations' throughout his life... there is an incentive structure and he is following it.
