Uninsured driver hit me (have questions)

I was rear ended by a car and I have a broken hand. Driver produced his father's insurance card from Mississippi. (accident happened in Louisiana)
Son lives in Louisiana
I made a claim and it turns out that the father claims that he sold the car to the son (says he did bill of sale and signed title), but I pulled the VIN report a week after the accident and it shows the father as the owner in Mississippi. Is a bill of sale and signing the title over enough to deny ownership? I also found out that the father cancelled the insurance on that car 5 days before this accident but he still has a policy with 2 other vehicles on it. :(
I do have full coverage and a very small amount of uninsured motorist but it looks like I will need surgery and rehab and I am concerned.
What to do?

Do you have health insurance?

Just tell your insurance. Let them go at it.

Your insurance company will handle it.

Call your insurance company, they will take care of their insured. Also you have your health insurance policy.

I spoke to the adjuster, she said he told her he signed bill of sale and title but I think there has to be more than that to change ownership in Mississippi.

Your health ins will kick in after your medpay and UM are exhausted, assuming you have health ins.

The father has the same insurance company that I do.
