What if you have passengers in your vehicle who are not on your ins.

Plus, making a collision claim will up you premie. Course having uninsured motorist does too.

Why - La is a Tort state for insurance, so theoretically when someone hits you and is deemed at fault, they have to pay for everything. If someone hits you and doesn't have insurance, you insurance deductibles and limits kick in. Having proper full coverage limits and deductibles is what saves you not unisured/underinsured. Sure you insurance company can battle it out, you can get a lawyer - but in the mean time your insurance and medical insurance will have to cover any surgeries or rehabs.

This has so much wrong in it.

UM is pretty cheap, and I do not think a UM claim will increase your premium when coverage is renewed. If I'm wrong, someone say so.

If you don't have UM , you are ignorant of the facts or stupid or crazy. Take your pick.

You are correct, it won't. I'd said that earlier and why I used a collision claim increase as a reason TO have UM in reply to Finn.

With the cost of things today, people would shite if they knew how many people drove without insurance. Hell, with the cost of Dr Ed ($350.00) a lot of people drive without a license.

Uh, it's ONE or THE OTHER. Either you have UM or not. If not, as fin said, he would use his collision.

Also, health insurance doesn't pay for pain and suffering, lost wages, loss of earning capacity, etc.

ETA: Also, just b/c you have health insurance, doesn't mean you will not be out a ton of money due to copays or deductibles

Be careful when you start hauling them kids (yours and their friends, that is) around when they start playing ball or dance recitls, etc.

As a person gets older and acquires more assets, it's even more important imo.

I don't need compensation for pain

The rest would be covered under my disability policies.

I wonder if you will think the same way if you happen to ever be in a terrible accident (which I hope you don't)

Health insurance and collision won't pay loss of earnings or pain and suffering.

ETA: I see you are now throwing disability in. Care to add anything else? Trust fund from your rich uncle maybe?
