Hi guys. 40 year old married dude with kids. Healthy lifestyle and diet but all of sudden about two weeks ago I’ve started getting horrible gas when I get in bed

I’m talking the worst thick silent but deadlies I’ve ever had. The smell would bring a man to his knees. My wife falls asleep first and the other night it just lingered for minutes and she started a coughing fit after smelling it

I can only blame it on the dog so many times. I haven’t changed anything with my diet.

I’ve had to wash my sheets every couple of days because the smell won’t leave the room. Im surprised the paint isn’t peeling

Every morning I’m scared to look at the sheets half expecting a bacon strip to be painted on them.

Any tips or ways to get rid of this?

Welcome to 40, where you become more farty...

I would be upstairs watching TV, farting my arse off, the wife would come upstairs and was like got damn, it stinks up here...

three rules of life for mature folks

do not trust a fart

do not pass up a place to take a pee

Found your problem. Wait till you hit 50.

I used to get bad gas cramps at night. I’d wake up thinking I had to take a dump but nothing would happen. A couple times the gas pains were so bad I’d black out. I have a cool scar on my forehead from hitting the bed post when I fell. Turns out the cramps were from being dehydrated. Drink a glass of water before bed and I’m fine, but now I wake up later because I have to pee. Getting old sucks.

This is such a subjective comment. What do you consider healthy?

Your intestinal flora needs some help at this point in your lifecycle.

A daily probiotic would do it.

I recommend Nature's Way Probiotic Pearls Acidophilus Softgels, 1 Billion CFU, 90 ct
Supports Digestive Balance & Gut Health*, Reduces Occasional Constipation and Bloating*, 1 Billion CFU, No Refrigeration
Amazon's Choice.

About $31 for a three month supply.

I swear, I have started several threads about farts over the years and they always get whacked within minutes. Obviously the admins have a double standard.

Anyway, try some probiotics. Your gut flora may be off.

Lay off of dairy and see if that helps. And fiber is a double edged sword: Helps you poop, but gives you gas.

Around 40 years old my entire digestive system just stopped working like usual. I had a cast iron stomach my entire life then all of sudden things like onions, red sauces, dairy, high starch meals, would just make me bloated and gassy. But it started with just gas at night.

Go to your doctor to rule out Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis.

Thanks for the recommendations on the probiotic

Stupid question, but do I need a prebiotic too? I don’t know the difference.

Does it only happen at night?

Have you laid down during the day and it not happen?

I know he said at night, but genuinely, I very rarely lie down during the day. Once I get up, I'm either standing, walking, or sitting until I go to bed

You are doing the laundry at your house? Let me rephrase that, her house.

Prebiotics feed probiotic bacteria. So they just make the probiotics grow better. Did you take a round of antibiotics recently? That can throw your gut health out of whack. You may want to try digestive enzymes first. I take Friska Mens Daily probiotic and digestive enzyme formula about 3 times a week but especially before a fatty or problematic meal and it helps me.
