My baw, if wasn't states away I'd come help you with that shite.
I feel your pain. You have a simple plan and task and then BAM.
You have a shitshow to deal with 100x worse

So this weight broke through the plywood? Are the joists ok?
Can you draw a picture?

Don't exactly understand what you're describing... as other's have questioned already doesn't make sense for me to do that same. I have nothing against an early beer, but I do personally limit myself to drinking with joy and not as a way to cope with frustration or challenges. Hope it works out for you.

Is what it is I am coming back down to reality. Off to Lowes to pick up some drywall screws and put some temporary patches on this shitshow. Halloween stuff will have to wait.
Posted on 10/6/25 at 9:38 am to CaptainsWafer
Yeah, smh at OP thinking he could store that stuff on top of Sheetrock.

I had plywood sheets up there but apparently not enough and I failed myself I guess I got lazy and accumulated too much shite.
That doesn’t make sense. You had to have had boxes and shite directly on the drywall for it to collapse like that.

When did the OT become a bunch of dorks in regards to alcohol. Let the guy have a beer before dealing with all this mess if he wants one
Seriously, dude’s off work nearly all week. Let him rip a few.

Most don’t realize that even if you put plywood on the ceiling joists, they really weren’t engineered to store all of your accumulated shite.

I did apparently but I thought it was strategically placed. My strategy failed me it was only a matter of time i guess. I gotta alot of shite and honestly thinking back now I fricked up and paid the price.

OT is a bunch of puritans with former drinking problems now. A bunch of people who can't handle only drinking a beer or two and had to get wasted every time they drink. Projecting their problem on to those of us who can drink in moderation.

Hard lesson learned, baw.

Stay off my puritan lawn. This beer is going down smooth.
Honestly still drinking beer one and about to head to lowe's. Why and how did I let it get some packed up there? Life just smacked me in the face this a wake-up call

Whelp I am off work til Friday and today was the day to pull all of my halloween animatronics and halloween stuff out of the attic. Get in the attic and start moving shite around I am working through Christmas stuff and then I see the drywall buckle. I stop while walking on the ceiling joints then BOOM POW BOOM my entire attic drywall
floor/ceiling falls about half my shite in storage hits the garage floor. After the dust settles I walk back to the ladder climb down from the attic shut the garage and it's time for alcohol. My day and week just fricking changed. Just Smh and forming plan B now. Anyone had unexpected situations come up and how did you do with handling it? I got a little time right now to listen
very subtle i have a job, attic and a garage brag thread is subtle.

I just sit and think the problem out. Develop a course of action.
Be glad that it was your garage and not your living room.

This sucks for OP but I did laugh at this post.

Yes it does. He said he had plywood sheets, but not enough.
So yeah, he started stacking stuff directly on top of the sheetrock.
