quote:

We had a chance there with 16 down and they rape us, and he picks up the flag,' said Whipple, who was complaining that the official picked the flag off the field, negating any potential penalty against the Bobcats.

quote:

'I am deeply sorry for the words I used on Saturday to describe a play in our game,' Whipple said in a statement. 'It is unacceptable to make use of the word 'rape' in the way I did and I am very sorry for doing so. It is not a term that should ever be used in the manner I did. It represents a lack of responsibility on my part as the leader of this program and a member of this university's community, and I am disappointed with myself that I made this comparison when commenting after our game.'

I've heard coaches use just about every word imaginable on officials and players in the heat of the game, but now in the PC world certain words are banned.

Also to be banned:
felt up - as in "that ref really felt us up on that play"
second base
ogled
cat called

The most absurd part is that I bet he could have used the word "killed" and there wouldn't be a word said about it.

quote:

Definition of rape (Entry 1 of 4)
1 : unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against a person's will or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent because of mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception — compare SEXUAL ASSAULT, STATUTORY RAPE
2 : an outrageous violation
3 : an act or instance of robbing or despoiling or carrying away a person by force

I hate when people ignore the other uses of words.

Like that controversy a few years ago when a politician said someone “prostituted” themselves, meaning “sold out”

I saw this story.

From time to time I will use the word rape in similar context. If someone gets screwed over or something, I will say "he got raped on that deal".. I guess I have to be aware of where I say it.

Imagine if he would have said..."They hung us out to dry"

or "We had a chance there with 16 down and they rape us, and he picks up the cotton pickin flag,'

In other words, they suspended probably the only coach willing to run one of the worst FBS programs.

UMass is so godawful I believe they got kicked out of the MAC.

Ok so another word is off limits. I’ll add it to the list and try to remember.

Or use the word ' thief' like Serena and we'd hear whining from a select few for days. "How dare she impugn the Officials integrity".

It's not that he used the word you dolt, it's the context be used it in during what should have been a professional setting.

Do you want the CEO of a company you invest in to go up on stage at a meeting and say how their bottom line is getting raped this quarter? Or a principal during a pep rally to say something like "let's rape our rivals"

Its not a big deal if you said it while sitting around joking with your boys, but there's some shite you don't say in a professional setting that should be disciplined if you do,
