Do Europeans not have access to credit like Americans do? Do they simply save more than we do? Or do Americans make significantly more than the middle class British person?
Little bit of all of that
The average American makes significantly more but the quality of life isn’t significantly better

The only reason Norway is that rich is because of their vast petro reserves in the North Sea, too.

They pay a lot more in taxes than we do

I just read several articles about this subject. I would have never thought that Mississippi would be a top economy in Europe

So if Amarillo was in Europe, it would be flooded?

Mississippi, if it were a nation within the EU, would be 2nd wealthiest behind Norway
Quality of life, education, life expectancy, weather, are other factors to consider here.
If you chose Mississippi over Norway I may have some questions for you

not reading through four pages, but travelers from the UK take a month of stress relief when vacationing. it is what it is.

I’ve been telling yall this for years.
Everywhere else sucks. It’s gross. Not as clean, not as open.

Every country has curtains that hide stuff. USA is the cleanest shirt in the dirty clothes hamper. Just saying.

IDK, my uncle lived in the UK for a couple of years in the seventies helping start up a chemical plant. I remember him talking then about the lower standard of living over there. The houses were smaller, Groceries were smaller portions for the same price, etc.
London is a rich city with a country attached to it that would marvel at Mississippi
and London isn’t even a rich city. one economic sector is rich. that’s it

Been to Norway. Favorite place on earth
No one is comparing MS to them, but pointing out the disparity between the two while joking how they are even close monetarily. I am also going to say that those places are so insanely expensive.
We grow stuff, we build stuff. Truly we don’t need anything from anyone when push comes to shove. We would have to alter many things because we have tons of imports/exports, but England/Ireland/scotland/Scandanavia cannot survive without either A) an insane amount of money spent on factories and plants and greenhouses etc B) outside help
I have traveled a lot, and most people are like the person in the OP. They cannot grasp our freedom and our luxuries
Do you realize 90% of the english eat beans on “toast” with a slab of ham they call bacon for breakfast?

I'd love to know why you've written "toast" like it's some made up thing

Back in the nineties I dated a girl from England, she had some friends come in for a visit from Liverpool. Her friend’s boyfriend came with me to the grocery, he was amazed how cheap everything was, especially the meat. Walking around the grocery store was the highlight of his trip…
People like to shite on this country, but those assholes don’t realize how good we have it here.

I feel the older, rich retired couples with the nice RVs and the nice tow vehicles are one of the few groups that can actually afford what they're buying.

So, not Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, or any town in between?
I imagine the hotels they used to put you up in were nice, and in nice parts of town, but most of the rest of the places you probably weren't allowed to stay are closer to the average in London.
