I am a white male...we are pretty much the minority now. All other classes are protected but us. Keep fighting the fight and demanding fairness and equality all while not really wanting fairness and equality

Yeah. I mean there thousands of great black role models to choose from.

They choose the convicted murderer. Smart play.

I'm okay with minority programs. And that lady is Tupac's mama in case y'all didn't know.
She's rather famous, or infamous.

eta: nm. She's his godmother. His mama is Afeni Shakur and was also wanted by Feds for some shite years ago.

They should name it after Walter Williams. Now there is a brilliant man who was both an agitator for civil rights and who is now a respected economist and professor.

They should compromise and name the building after Marshawn Lynch.

I'm not surprised. Berkeley will always be Berkeley! Though I firmly believe the students are misguided. She's a murderer and belongs in prison. If she's really innocent, then I would think her lawyers would have found that proof while she enjoyed her years in Cuba. I realize, boy do I realize, how people have been railroaded by the legal system in the US. But don't sit in communist Cuba and lecture me while your behind is safe in another country.

I have to say, one of the things some of the Ferguson protesters did that irked me was wearing those "Assata taught me" shirts. It's funny because I consider myself a liberal, though I am socially conservative. I could never had stayed at a college like Berkeley. Way too liberal for me. But to each their own.

Also, when President Obama announced the travel ban was lifted from Cuba, I wondered if the US was going to ask for her extradition. But Cuba answered that a few days later to say the country wouldn't send her back to the US. We shall see.

Do they have a hostage or something? The demands seem more like a ransom for something they have that the University needs/ wants.

Let's take a look at what her "message" says:

Assata Shakur forum

quote:

dont fight for the white side (red white and blue)

fight on the right side of black peoples (red black and green)

the devil is the white race

their power is weakening as we speak

do not follow their ways

they are seeking to enlist you as an employee

dont take their employment

seek elders out to create your own employment

they want you to work the street corners selling dope to black people
they want you to sell your body
they want you to work in the prison system as an inmate/slave, a prison guard, an officer etc etc
they want you to work in the governmint as an agent a soldier a recruiter a police officer

we must build a nation for our people separate of the devil white race

fight for the red black and green

this is the main purpose of our black lives at this critical moment in our millions of years of living on this planet earth

to establish a nation of our own breaking away from the devil white race in all ways mind body and soul

we must leave this land of death and destruction

we must return to afu ra ka (afrika) to bring life and ressurection

hotep
black power
free the land
baba yaw

The site is full of people who are as racist as any I've ever seen anywhere. But they get away with it because they're black.

How are "minorities" different besides color? Also, these students likely were given admittance to the University based on race over others to begin with. How about appreciate that they go to one of the best fricking Universities in the world to begin with. If they thought it was anti-skin color alone, then maybe they should have picked another university. I can't even begin to stress how much it has nothing to do with skin color. Skin color does not prevent you from being moral, hard working, or intelligent. If you believe if it does, then you're only being racist against yourself. Stop thinking you are at a disadvantage. I can say as a white American I want fairness for everyone, and prosperity for everyone, but the racism that created the divides to begin with was not created by anyone alive today, so lets stop blaming each other, because none of us are responsible. I can personally tell you I've never taken any fricking pride in any building named after a white person. Have you honestly ever looked at the name of a building and thought....oh shite, im so motivated now! Besides, how many things are Martin Luther King Jr. named? At this point, it doesnt matter, its all childish games, because the heart of the issue isn't in the physical, its in the attitude and mental approach of everyone involved on all sides.

I wonder about this. What would be the repercussions if travel opens up and you go to Cuba, kidnap her and bring her to US soil?
