Leaving downtown Nola from a Christmas function.

Uber was a 20 min wait.

Cab pulled up. Bringing me home for 10 bucks less than Uber quoted.

Cab is clean and with a tv showing today’s news. Drive gave water and a charger.

I am riding the same as most Uber’s but with more amenities.

Are cabs fighting back for riders or is Uber just over charging?

I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait more than 6-7 minutes for an Uber. 20 is absurd.

Usually Uber and Lyft are cheaper, in my experience. But it depends on surging prices.

Probably a surge charge quote.

You could have canceled that Uber and gotten another one, or used lyft.

I haven’t taken a ride in a cab since ride sharing started, and don’t plan on it.

Sounds like Uber and Lyft forced the taxi industry to unfrick itself and improve its services.

No fricking chance. I'm downtown right now and the wait for an X is 4 minutes at my location. and there are cars all over the city.

Was the cab an Escalade ESV driven by a guy in a suit?

OP doesn’t know what he’s doing, most likely. Or just making shite up.

Destination has nothing to do with the wait time for a ride.

We do this all the time inglorious and we always cross check the Uber/ lyft with the closest cab.

Going home cheaper tonight.

Cabs are probably trying to compete, and the market is setting the prices for Uber. If the Uber riders feel they are paying too much they will find other means of transportation and prices will go down Uber like any business charges what the market will bear.

Good, maybe the cabs have woken up. I can't count how many times I was downtown for big events and cabs wouldn't even take me to Lakeview or the eastern side of Metairie.

Soooo damn glad Uber came to town.

Yeah the price difference between a cab and uber/ lyft the last 2 years or so is very minimal. If its a surge time, then a cab can absolutely be considerably cheaper.

If I'm in a big city and I have time to kill, I'll uber/ lyft. But if I walk outside then I'll often hail a cab with no 2nd thoughts. The instant ability and time savings is worth $1 or $2 difference in price and I don't have to risk the uber driver pulling up to the wrong side of the road or whatever.

Let me guess, you are a cab driver, right? Or can’t get a job with Uber?

In Vegas now Uber new fees make them 25% more expensive than cabs. Here the Uber pickup spots are tucked in parking garages miles from where Cabs are waiting. Out here it’s a no brainer.

Before Uber, I knew I had to call a cab at least an hour in advance if I wanted a ride from the Chimes/Varsity in Baton Rouge. If cabs have gotten any better since then, it's only because they are responding to the pressure Uber put on them.
