The people on Twitter telling the people that lived through communism that they just didn't understand communism always makes me laugh.

They get what they vote for, voting Democrat is voting for failure.

Your taxes are going to pay for something, I'd rather it go towards someone that might at least be putting something back in.

Minneapolis already spends $39 million+ a year on public transportation. I doubt programs like this are included in that budget.

Maybe the city council members who voted for the new law should be forced to drive the "vulnerable populations" wherever they need to go.

I’m on the side of less government spending, but this particular program is literally for mentally handicapped (f/k/a retarded) people.

I’m sure these particular people can’t actually get a driver’s license.

The real solution for CA, MN, and the other states is to let Uber/Lyft drivers drive for the rates they agree to. If it’s not enough then people won’t do it.

The article literally says for special needs adults. Highly doubt the daughter receving $1,000 a month would be capable of driving a car. Uber or a mom/friend is only option.

This scenario keeps playing out repeatedly in liberal strongholds.

People vote loons into office, said loons enact goofy policies that negatively impact their constituents, people complain yet keep voting for the same people.

The pain index needs to get worse for them to wake up, obviously they aren’t hurting enough yet. They get what they deserve.

Forcing companies to pay drivers crazy money is gonna cause that.

The argument is not whether they can or can’t afford to pay the drivers, it’s the fact that the council decided to force a national wide company to have to pay more. That’s never gonna end well.

I will agree that the city probably needs those companies in it to get people to and from places so it really does suck for all those folks that don’t have a job now

If heard it right, Uber/Lyft warned the council this would be the result, and the response was something like "we got a great Yellow Cab network, so frick off". So they bluffed and FAFO.

Classic Democrat move. None have actual business experience and make decisions based on feelings. They don't understand businesses can't just make money appear out of thin air, like the govt depends on.

I hope the people in the area suffer, and somehow realize they are to blame too, though doubt they will.

Short-sighted policies and democrats are the ultimate combo, we are still paying for LBJ‘s great society.

At no point will Progressive Democrats ever have the eureka moment and make the connection between the feel-goodism of their intentions and the catastrophic consequences of their policies.

If you take an Uner to work, outside of vehicle mechanical issues, you're fricking retarded.

Some of these people might literally be retarded. Kroger by my house had baggers who are clearly mentally handicapped. They can bag groceries but don’t work the register and definitely shouldn’t be driving.

So, the kid gets $40 per working day. How far a drive is $20?
Most folks figure in their costs vs pay. I wonder how that works for this situation.

Seems that given the nature of the program in question, she likely doesn’t have the mental capacity to make that calculation.
