In the woods in the pitch black? Playing what?! That's rather incredible.

I'd really like to hear the details of the actual finding of the girls and dog.

I'm really happy they were found safe.

The dog. Maybe I’m crazy, but that dog 100% knew they were lost and did everything it could to keep them relatively safe and calm.

If it’s anything like ours he probably went crazy licking their faces every time they would get upset, and they would be distracted by the thought that he drinks from the toilet.

You’re not crazy. The dog made a bad situation much better for the girls. No doubt.

I’m glad they found the girls!

My dog if given the chance will also fly the coop. My wife is always, bewildered. “She has a great life here, why does she leave?”

Me: “I don’t know dear, maybe because she’s a dog?”

Some kids are pretty resilient. Too young to understand their circumstance. And they had their dog. That was probably the biggest comfort.

Playing what?!

They’re kids. You’ve never watched young kids playing? They have vivid imaginations and can make up some pretty intricate stuff if left alone.

They didn’t know or have an older person to tell them they were in a bad situation. Without influence, they did what (hopefully) most young kids would do- play innocently.

The kids may be too young to remember this ordeal. The parents on the other hand will never forget it. The joys of parenthood. So glad this ended well.

Which means every time they started to cry he would run over and lick them in the face and on the hands. Lol It’s basic but highly effective.

Eta: Dog’s name is Artemis. Pretty cool name.

I heard the one girl complaining she was cold. It sparked a thought. Although he hates it sometimes, we've told our kid for a long time, "If you're going outside, make sure you're dressed so you could spend at least 1 hour outside without getting cold/hot." You never know what could happen.

I would think that the older girl knew they were lost and was “playing” with her younger sister to keep her occupied during the ordeal.

Not so positive: no fear of a belt to the arse for being out after the street lights came on. I sure did in the 70s.

Gotta be honest… didn’t expect a good ending after they weren’t found after a couple hours of infrared/helicopters

Is the microchip also a GPS tracker? Cause the only microchips I’m familiar with require a scanner to be read by someone standing right over the animal. It’s not like the microchip has a transponder to report a Location. Unless it does.

Would need on if those apple dingy on the collar or something similar.

In all honesty, while maybe not getting whipped, I’d have probably gotten my arse chewed out and punished for getting lost. My parents (and most parents of my generation) didn’t get all Hallmark/Lifetime movie sentimental about this type of event. They were pissed off. And they bitched at us for being stupid/irresponsible. The whole “my poor little babies” mentality is a result of a different parenting style.

Doesn’t mean it’s better or worse. Just a whole lot different

Here’s the mom’s latest post thanking everyone and giving more details about when they were found. So happy they were found safe and healthy.

“ Our babies are home safe!! We CANNOT thank everyone enough for all the search forces, support, and prayers. We had an army physically and spiritually standing for our family. Our hearts are so so full of love and gratitude for the immediate support from our community and others areas too. We even had other countries lifting our family up in prayer.

We had volunteer search crews, ATV’s, drones, helicopters, dogs, cars, and even a 25-person horse crew was prepared to search. They were found deep in the heavy woods and it was DARK.

Y’all, God is so good. Our 4 year old is pretty shaken (she’s okay though!) but I know the Holy Spirit brought so much peace to our 7 year old. She said she knew they would be found and she knew to just stay put.

Also, so grateful for our hero Artemis, our golden retreiver. The helicopter first spotted some movement and sent a search crew in their direction. And then Artemis heard people coming and started barking making it much easier to find them. He even growled at the police at first because he was protecting our babies.

Every highway in the area was lined with hundreds of people to search. Y’all I have hundreds of calls and messages from people asking how they can help and telling me that they’re praying for us. I can’t get to everyone to say thank you. Friends, family, and even pastors from our church just started showing up at our house to help and pray with us.

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! Thank you EVERYONE! God heard everyone’s prayers, protected our babies, and sent them home safely.

The love of Jesus is ruling the hearts of the people of this community.”
