quote:Yeah, that’s not enough. They should be doing the yard work, taking out the garbage at least. I’m a woman and did all of that growing up.
I'm giving the 13 year old 5% because I'm feeling generous

This reads like an OWEO post. Which confuses me. Lucas P RIP.

I would be more than happy to cook 1/2 the time in lieu of mowing the lawn, cleaning the cutters, picking up dog shite, and taking out the trash all the time.

We split all that stuff down the middle. Same with taking care of the babies. I’d love to have a wife that took care of all the house shite, but mine makes way more than I do so it’s a trade off I welcome

My girl is in medical school. I work full time and cook breakfast and dinner about 75% of the time. I pack both our lunches and make both our coffees.
It's a fair trade off because she was doing this for a few months when they shut the school down in March. I'm glad to do it, though. My calling is to be a stay-at-home dad.

My wife went back to school and we’ve got a 6 month old, so I can appreciate how much work this is. Cheers.

Yep that’s it in a nutshell, unfortunately some (mostly the guys, not all the time though) tend to forget that if they ever knew it to begin with. And there’s no one sized fits all I get that, some couples the lady cooks all the time and the husband does all the laundry. Or others just everyone attacks it all and works to get the job done. It’s just sad and trashy when one party consistently doesn’t pull their weight and worse when they use justification like "The Bible says she’s supposed to" as a way to be lazy and abusive.
I think having generations of progressively more single parent households is exacerbating the problem. Kids are growing up not seeing a functioning couple and so guys never see a male role model helping out the woman so don’t know how to behave in a functioning relationship.

My wife and I both work full time.
She wanted to do laundry and dishes and wanted me to "deep clean" once a week and do the yard.
I agreed.
Then I hired a maid and yardboy.
Now I can stick to things I'm better at. Like fishing and golf.

She will meet a guy at work or at one of the kids’ sports practices eventually.

Same here
I don’t mind bringing kids to school a few days a week
And I enjoy afternoons with the kids

If both spouses work full time, but the husband doesn't do any cooking/cleaning, or spending time with the kids. He is a terrible husband and a terrible man.
