the driver -- who seemed extremely intoxicated

I'm extremely intoxicated. That could have been me; except I'm not a douchebag that drives after I've had drinks. Fk this driver. Prayers for the victims.

The area where this happen has cross streets entering Esplanade at angles. It is very hard to see cars or pedestrians when entering Esplanade. Plus people drive too fast on Esplanade.

I drive that area a good bit. The only real problem there is it’s dark.

Now get shithoused and do 80 down a 30 mph street and yea it’s a little more complicated.

seems like a drunk driver would at least try to drive carefully just to avoid the DUI. Crazy some a-hole will get that drunk and then speed on top of it.

Youre using “had a few beers with the guys” logic not “falling down and shouldn’t be in public yet alone a car because I’m going to floor it in a bike lane” standards.

Dude wasn’t just buzzed and speeding and accidentally clipped someone. He straight plowed through a bunch of innocent people to avoid normal traffic.

To be fair, I’m sure he was still shite faced when the pic was taken. It won’t be until noon or so today that reality of his actions hit hard.

I’m sure the father’s career with NOPD is ruined as well.

Prayers to the victims and family of the ones that were killed by this foolish act.
